Need Short Term Housing!

Well, it looks like my expected 2.5 year stint in Sacramento is being cut short (by 18 months  ). My work assignment is ending sometime in June (most likely the end of the month).

The wife and kids are moving home the first week of May. I will drive them back to Austin and then fly back here for those last seven weeks.

But, since I'm going to be by myself, it makes no sense for me to stay in a 4BR house in Folsom for $1800/month.

Does anyone know of any apartments/duplexes/condos that will accept a short-term (2 month) lease for a reasonable (<$900) price? I'm working in Rancho Cordova, so something convenient to there would be best.

Worst case, I can use Priceline and get the Holiday Inn in Rancho for ~$40/night, but I'd prefer something a little cheaper.

The apartments i live in right now charge $50 more a month if you do not agree to a 1 year lease. They are on cadillac drive off of fair oaks with the next closest cross street being howe. My one bedroom is 825 so that would be 875 a month. Really nice gated apartments with a pool gym sauna ect. I am pretty sure we have a few units open. Hope the info helps.

There are two appt. complexes in Folsom that do Corporate Housing and are used to shorter term type situations. I don't rememebr them off the top of my head, but I will get them and post / email it to you.

My Wife used one of them when she first relocated here from Michigan, which was a few months (as your situation is) until she found a house.

I'll get the info and pass on what I find out.

I think there is an apartment complex on Fair Oaks Bl. between Howe and Watt near Partykid that is willing to rent by week (around $200) or by month (around $600).
Yeah, we just got back from looking in that area. That one you mentioned is part of a group of three complexes in the area, but didn't have any apts available right now. The other two complexes supposedly have vacancies but were closed today, so the wife is going to go by next week.

If you don't have too much stuff, then you may want to consider just renting a room. Check out Craigslist - http://sacramento.craigslist.org/sub/
I called a bunch of the apartments advertised on Craig's List yesterday to see if any of them did short-term leases. Some did...most didn't...

Your other idea has merit and I did consider it...if I end up in an unfurnished place, it's likely that I'm only going to have, at most, a couch and a desk (everything else is going home...except for this one couch and desk)...but there's a chance that my wife and oldest kid *may* come out and visit one weekend and most roommates wouldn't enjoy/appreciate that...

Okay, if anyone cares, for my remaining eight weeks in California, I will be moving approximately 500 feet from my existing house. Turns out my neighbor is moving back in with her ex-husband and leaving her house to her college-age daughter and her boyfriend and they're letting me have a room.

So...I'll still be in Folsom, my family will be 1700 miles away, and I'll be itching to play cards as often as I can, since cardrooms are illegal in Texas and the nearest (Indian) casino with a cardroom to Austin is 220 miles...
