Well...not here to give a big report, but to go on record to say that I "actually" caught some cards and played 8-hours of LIMIT Hold'em, and only ended up $50 down. An amazing feat....
Started out playing 4/8 while waiting to enter next weeks tournament (giving it another shot). I was up and down, but doing well enough to stay. By the time the 8/16 opened up, I was $140 up. It's amazing how people play crap and follow it all the way to the river!
The "Kid" was there also doing well and we both moved to the 8/16 table. I thought I'd give it a shot. Won a fairly big pot with a set of 6s. But, lost two major pots...both to the same guy! One hand I lost a pair of As with Q kicker to his K kicker. And, on the last hand (that I am still steaming about) went something like this: I'm in the big blind. Q5. No one raises. I check. The flop- 55T. 5s...yeah! I check, someone bets, I call. X on the turn. I bet, someone raises. I call. It's down to two players (me and the guy that out-kicked me ealier). A King on the river. There's no flush out there, no straight, I have trip 5s with Q high. I'm feeling pretty good. I bet, I'm raised, I re-raise, he re-raises, I call. In that bet alone, there's $48 each out there. He turns over a K5 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF!?! Full boat! He would've beat me even is there was no King on the river (would've out kicked my Q...again!). But what are the odds of BOTH of us holding a 5???? I picked up my $30 and left. Ugh!
Overall....I felt good about the day.....but that was definitely a sign that I needed to get home, so I can mentally prepare for work tomorrow.... nothing like the thought of 570 kids coming back with lots of Christmas candy and full of energy........
