Didn't look like a rake to me. It was a guy trying to cover his costs for a few pizzas and beer.

If he's taking it out of the pot (or is otherwise required), it's a "rake".

Yeah, if it comes out of the pot, it would be a rake. Not knowing exactly how they were doing it, let's assume that was the method.
I just think it's kinda cheesy, but whatever. if they want to bust a home game, go for it. I'm sure this issue holds a much higher priority than drug dealers, gang bangers, and drunk drivers.

There is nothing at my home games that anyone would get busted for, and I know every player well enough, so I welcome cops! (just bring doughnuts, please)

Agreed.

He must have been doing something that at least one of the players didn't like. I'm guessing one of the players narced on him and the cops had to check into it.

I sincerely doubt that the cops set up a sting operation on the guy or anything. At least let's hope not......
