It seems our semi-regular Monday games have disappeared. Here are some of my theories why it is so:

1. A lot of BYOCers are degenerate (and losing) sports betters. They try to recuperate a weekend of losses in football by trying to get even on MNF. They have to watch the game since so much is riding.

2. The interest in NLHE, like California real estate market, has peaked and is beginning to decline.

3. The high price of gas results in less disposable income. While the fed's monetary policy (i.e., raising the interest rate) has spurred the return of stagflation.

4. Some BYOCers have abandoned playing poker as the source of income and instead are relocation to New Orleans to serve as construction workers.

And the most likely reason is:

The game is still going on, but Ace has become a persona non grata because the people are sick of munching on chololate.

BTW, what happen to our regular Saturday games?

While I don't happen to subscribe to any of your theories as to why, I have to admit to having concerns that our regular games seem to be a thing of the past.

I contributed the summer duldrums to everyone being busy. I would have thought that we'd be back on track by now. I've been available to play a lot more than host, but there haven't been many games put together to go to. For the last few months, it feels like if I don't host (on the weekends) there isn't a game. I'd host more if I could, but (belive it or not) I have a life beyond poker too. No hosts = no games.

Wish I could explain it but I can't. Holidays will be creeping up on us soon which will put another reason into the field for lack of availability for the players. I believe we'll get back on track it's just a matter of when.

It's because fish like me aren't coming anymore :geek:

I'd came to the Octoberfest tournament but for the inlaws 50th anniversary dinner. And no I'm not doing it for my wife's benefit. My inlaws, for their quirks, are neat people and besides my brother-in-law bbq's a mean tri-tip. Don't know what he's planning, but it will make this guppy fatter.

And the number 6 reason is!!!!:

... David is in school all week or studying (except Tuesday afternoons), and has to get his MA before he's 27 and his PhD before he's 30 and old lol...

Mondays traditionally suck for me. Fridays and Saturdays are the days that I'm throwing cards, if I'm not drinking with buds after a long week of school.

See ya all Sat... I'm really looking forward to it!!!

I think Monday games would be better attended if it were moved to Thursdays (even when there is no MNF). After all, Thursday is closer to the end of the week and a lot of people then to slack off on Fridays.

What do you say HeatPackin and Quads?

I'm OK with hosting any time, Monday, Tuesday, what ever.
It seems the last few Mondays have had little interest, and I don't know if this is due to NFL, or people just not interested in playing a week night game anymore.

Tuesday conflicts with the Derby Tourney and another game or two I know of that some may play downtown.

I'll host a game this weekend if there is interest.

How soon they forget. Need your dead money in the tourney on Saturday Quads so don't go planning anything.

Still think Friday and Saturdays work best but with so many other options to play....especially online, the fix for poker does not need as much fixing BYOC style.

Although I love our games especially with no rake, the many options out there make it easy not to miss weekly games as much. JMO

With all that being said.....I still have a big hard-on thinking about playing in the Saturday tourney.

Also, Quads, can we keep the green skins cause they ROCK!
