Default Craps Table Rebuild

Iíve started rebuilding my craps table after my house was destroyed in a fire, December 21, 2012.
Lets call it the Phoenix table, rising from the ashes! Actually, it was in the only room in the basement with a closed door, so all it got was smoke and water damage. I stored it in my sonís garage until last week. I have since bought a new house (new to me) on 10 acres with a huge outbuilding. A perfect place to rebuild the table!
Here is what it looks like after getting it home.

You can see I've cleaned and oiled some of the ones on the right.

I figure, a little cleaning of all the urethaneíd wood, treat with a little lemon oil and the basic chip trays and walls are probably ok. The green diamond ends are fine.
The padded rail needs to be removed and new vinyl installed.

The bottom looks like this. I think it is ok after drying out. I can just clean it up as well.

Surprisingly it doesnít smell like smoke. I guess sitting in a garage for 3 months helped with that.
I bought some new stuff to put in it.
Layout, blackjack chip tray, Stick, Dice, Pucks, plastic chip trays

Now to start on that padded rail. I've got an idea that will make it better than it was.

Iím going to make the padded rail detachable from the railing under it. In order to do this, I need to insert some flush mount nutplates and use machine screws from below. Before I do that, the padded rail will need to be a solid piece all the way around. Right now it is several pieces screwed to the railing under it.
I spent the last few days building little splices of wood to connect the padded rail wood.
Here is the rail with the vinyl removed. The splices are in and it is ready to put the nutplates in.

Iíve finished putting them in, a total of 20, all the way around. and placed it all upside down on the new vinyl (actually pleather) that I got.

Here it is with the padded rail removed and ready to cover.

I followed the Zerolux Ė Rail Vinyl Covering guide from VvvJRvvV pretty much. So far it seems to work great.
With the padded rail separated from the railing under it, I can actually wrap the covering around both the inside and outside edge

Almost done! Hopefully tomorrow, I can get the covering done.

Nice! That's looking better. Covering a rail is a PITA, I had to do mine twice. It's worth it.

I loved the first thread. Now I get to watch all over again!

I finished up the stapling of the padded rail. It didnít come out too bad. There are a couple of wrinkles. One that was from where it was folded at the fabric store. Maybe I can get those out with a little heat. Iím pretty happy with it though. I'll have to see when I get the rail mounted to the side walls.

Then I used some Murphy Oil Soap on the table base, all the chip trays, and the sides. They came out looking pretty good. No pictures of them yet.

Next step, put the new layout on the table base!

The weather turned to crap here again. Freezing rain, 30′s. Arghh. When is it going to stay spring?

I put the layout down today, and turned the second layout upside down and added it to each end. This extends it another foot on each end. I used glue stick again to attach at the seams and it worked great.
