It looks unlikely to matter for this project since the buttons have a wider edge that covers the hole you made with the spade bit, but you'll almost always get a better result (less tear out) using a forstner bit rather than a spade bit.

Thanks for the suggestion timsta will check that out.
Landed on a layout for the control panel. Only going to use 6 buttons - left to right from joystick. Plan is to get the control panel and holes cut out this weekend.  Sent from my SM-G975W using Tapatalk

Got some work done on the control panel today. Still have to drill another 4 holes for some upper control buttons.

Got the Bolts, Nuts and washers for the joysticks. Figured out where to drill. Control panel is done.

Inside of both sides measured up so I know where to put my supports that all my other panels will mount to.

Got a couple of cross supports mounted so I could put on a temporary back in order to see this thing standing.
Added some wheels. Might have to swap them out for smaller ones... These might be making it to tall making the control panel too high. Got a new complete image with 8007 games. Coming along... But still so much to do.       Sent from my SM-G975W using Tapatalk

If the casters are making the cabinet too tall, just cut an inch of the bottom of all your sides and move your bottom base and brackets up an inch. Done like dinner.

Our efforts tonight.
Back lower panel secured. Supports for control panel area in place. Dry fit of the control panel in place - fits like a glove. Couple of observations... I am not great at cutting straight lines. But it will all be hidden when finished. If I was to make another cabinet... The plans call for 24 inches wide... 30 would have been better.      Last edited by SVTF; 05-14-2019 at 07:49 PM..
