Place Holder- Walkout Basement Mancave in the Making

We moved from a single story 2200 ft house to a split level 3500 ft house back in May. the old house had a 20x24 foot barn-style shop i was going to finish out to make look like a cabin on the inside, but didn't get around to fixing the dang thing until the week before the sale. (never did finish out the inside)

Anyway, here's the new house-





the door to the left of the two garage doors is a 600 ft walkout basement with entry from the driveway and the fenced in back yard.

My spousal unit envisioned my jr. high kids entertaining their friends in the basement when they are over after pool parties and what not. but, instead of hanging out in the basement, the kids spend most of their time in their own rooms when the friends aren't over. when the friends are over, they don't slow down enough to veg out on the couch and watch the tube.

So, I finally convinced my spousal unit to let me have the basement as my mancave.










luckily its already finished out. now, i just need to personalize it. carrying over from the last house, I want it to look and feel like a cabin. so i will have outdoor/wildlife motif. deer heads, stuffed turkey, whatever else i find that might look like a hunting lodge.

Right now, all I've got on the walls is a framed duck print jigsaw puzzle, a wild turkey mount, a framed fishing tackle print, and a set of antlers from a 9pt I took back in high school. I've got a couple other skull mounts I need to hang as well.


well, i picked up a new set of horns to hang on my wall this morning-

14pt nontypical whitetail in Sharkey Co. (Mississippi Delta), MS.




Back on 11/17, my boy got his first whitetail buck- 8pt in Hickman Co., Ky




buddy of mine will do european skull mounts for the ones we killed this year. hopefully will have them back before March.

My cousin/hunting partner boiled and bleached the skull for me to do a European skull mount.




Now I need to find some good drift wood or weathered boards to finish it out and get it on the wall.


I also started in on my terry redlin jigsaw puzzle projects. The first box I opened had 10 puzzles- (2) 100 piece, (4) 300 piece, and (4) 500 piece puzzles. Once I get all the 100 and 300 piece puzzles done, I will glue them and frame them. It's not 7500 piece Lego set, but it helps me relax.

This is a nice walkout space to use. I like much of it but can see it needs help with different lighting and some other features. Bar seems weak. Setting up the best place for seating and at least an 80" screen somewhere might require more thought.
