The alternative to that, because I'm such a fan of the freezer conversion is a stand up chest freezer. That, you can easily stack full, half, or pony kegs, and won't have the issue is loading them in and out, and has a smaller footprint than a top load chest freezer.

I've only seen Guinness and Harp come in the full-keg (1/2 barrel) size. Do they come in ponies? Guess I need to take a trip to the liquor store to find out...

...Yes, I suppose that could work.
It'd be less involved than building a keg box, although the tower configuration gets trickier. Out of the side instead of the top with a slip-together sleeve of PVC piping might do it - allowing the bartop (with the tap tower) to swing away.

But I still have to check for Guinness availability in pony kegs. I really don't want to try and muscle a 31 gal. Keg into a freezer with a top door...

Being checking a few things. Seems that MURPHY'S STOUT (which I actually prefer to Guinness) is available in pony kegs!

I'll be looking more into the "keezer" conversion now. Beachtrader did a nice job on a freezer conversion here.

Check around, it's available in pony/quarter kegs. It just depends on what your supplier will carry. We use to get 1/2 kegs of harps and 1/4 kegs of guinness for parties in college all the time.

Where the hell did you go to college? When I was a poor, penniless collegian we had to drink the cheapest swill we could find - usually PBR or Miller Genuine Draft. How the hell can college students afford Guinness?

University of Kentucky...and I hung out with beer snobs. I've always prefered to drink for taste not just to get wasted. We'd pool our money to get it and we kept our parties small (av. 20). To this day I can't choke down a whole glass of any Bud or Miller product. Plus we didn't do it ALL the time...usually we stuck to the hard stuff and forwent the beer...or got a keg of Killians.
