Get ones that work?

Make sure you know which dryer hookups you have, gas or electric. Doesn't do you any good to buy a gas dryer if you don't have a gas line to the laundry room, unless you're able to run one/pay someone to do it. Personally, however, I prefer gas dryers over electric, but I'm not sure what available in your area (gas isn't common in many places).

I'd check craigslist/facebook martketplace/letgo/etc and look for used ones. A good way to save some money for other furnishings. Lots of used appliances still have plenty of life in them. Especially for a single guy who doesn't need all the new bells and whistles.

When I was single and bought my first house, I got almost all of my large appliances (fridge, washer, dryer) used on craigslist. If you can be a bit patient and watch for good stuff to come up you can score some great deals. Half off appliances that are only a year or two old is around the sweet spot. Sometimes even cheaper.

A new front-load washer can cost that by itself. So can a mid-range refrigerator. You need to start out with used or you're getting nothing but the cheapest new appliances you can find. But nothing wrong with used, especially when you don't have a wifey hanging around that "needs" new.

Definitely check out CL/FB/etc. Your 2k will go a LOT farther and someone else can eat the depreciation.
