![]() I should point out that almost every kit you buy will "fail safe when power is cut".. So door opens if power goes out
This is for fire safety.. But not much good as a secure door/panic room etc. So ive added a 10 day battery back up.. But have given consideration to exiting the basement in the event of a fire and that door not functioning.. We have another exit in the basement.. Via a steel door (that I built) which has a push bar on the inside.. So can easily be opened from inside.. But not outside.. We also have smoked detectors linked on every floor of the house (4 stories) So if you are planning something as secure as this.. Think also about fire/escape etc.. To be safe |

![]() Hey do you have any updates on this? If you get a chance to post a walk through of the completed project that would be cool.

![]() Heres a little update on our basement project..
The magnetic locks were powered off on the bookcase door for this video.. I still need to populate some of the steps with items and epoxy resin.. But so far we have steps that contain: bottle caps, poker chips, playing cards, beer mats and money from around the world The MAME cabinet still isnt finished.. But close The penny bar top(English 2 pence coins) is now finished.. Just the LED lights to wire (they are in the resin) Then I need to sort the paneling on the stairs walls and fabricate some steel hand rails.. And finished my recessed "Hot Toys" figures cabinets Last edited by Holedigger74; 06-21-2018 at 02:44 AM.. |

![]() I should of said.. The flickering of the LEDs is only on camera.. In person there is zero flicker..
The stair light module was from HOME - FireflyGlow And ive been buying my resin from Best Bar Top I have no connection with either company.. Just sharing the info in case it helps anyone else The "noise" in the bar is the CPU fan in the GhostBusters pinball.. It really isnt that loud.. Just seems exaggerated in the video for some reason Last edited by Holedigger74; 06-20-2018 at 05:25 AM.. |

![]() As you pass through the book case door there is a door to outside which is opposite.. This currently leads to a secure outdoor space.
In the next few months this area will get a roof.. And steel work each end to make a secure tool storage room. Currently my tool room is in the basement.. And that space will become the theatre in time.. Its all just a question of time... And sequence.. But getting there slowly Last edited by Holedigger74; 06-21-2018 at 02:46 AM.. |

![]() I think I mentioned before somewhere that our basement has 2 stair cases. One internal (the one in the video) and an external one.
The internal one being accessed via the semi armoured bookcase door... The external one is at the opposite end of the basement and access is through an old wooden door. I'll be making a new all steel door, again controlled by RFID from the outside, but openable from the inside via a push bar (like on fire doors) I have smoke detectors throughout and emergency lighting.. So in the event of a fire/power cut people in the bar/theatre can get outside without issue. As said above the door to outside at the top of the internal staircase will exit through the new tool room.. Which will only open from inside.. So again no key locks etc to hinder evacuation |
