I finished my basement a couple years ago and we replaced the carpet in the whole house along with the basement. I saved a ton of money using the pro desk at home depot and taking of their "beat it by 10%" deal. The tricky part is getting bids on the carpet you want and being able to prove it is the same carpet at HD. Carpet companies rename the colors for HD to make it difficult to get price comparisons. I found some info provind it was the same color and they beat the bid by 10% (or more... I would have to look). Just something to think about if you want carpet.
