Thanks. I get it. I guess I"m not a "traditionalist" when it comes to chips. I figure its a custom set. I'm going to design it with the colors that I want to see in play.

I know the quarter looks red. Technically its Dayglo Tiger. The flash definitely makes it look red.

If everyone did their custom sets the same color it would be kind of boring.

Could also result in some instances of home field advantage...player makes a bet with the wrong chips based incorrect color recognition. Nothing wrong with a little advantage going to the house

The denomination is on the chip. If you announce your raise it avoids and possible confusion.

I think a house advantage is kind of silly.

Me either, but I haven't played at EVERY CA casino, obviously.

The one's I've been known to frequent run with the typical white $1, red $5, green $25, and black $100. I think I've seen the pink $2.50 "snapper" a few times as well.

Many Vegas casinos have (had?) blue $1, while others have white $1. The one place in Nevada I know has official $2.50 chips in play are yellow.

But my games are typically stacked with black white chips at most... [/brag post]

Hustler, Crystal Park, 101 Casino, 19th Hole, Bankers, Gold West, Bicycle Club, California Grand, Capitol City, Matrix, Casino Royale, Club One, Diamond Jims, Garlic City, Bay 101, Hawaiian Gardens, Lake Elsinore, Morongo, Palomar to name a few, all use the blue $1 yellow $5 etc. color progression.

In the chip community those colors are referred to as "california colors".

It's most of the "Card Rooms" not "casinos" in California that have these colors. These are rooms that were granted licences to host games of skill, like poker back in the late 1800's and their licenses have been grandfathered in, although no new licences have been issued in a long time. They don't all go by the blue/yellow/white chip scheme but many of them do use it, particularly the larger rooms in LA and the Bay Area. Indian Casinos generally use the standard white/red/green/black progression.
