Default Buffalo Wings via Weber Kettle Vortex

Hey guys... you ever heard of the Vortex for Weber Kettle grills? I bought one a few weeks ago (Amazon link) and I'm in love with the way it cooks chicken wings (I've tried burgers, beer can chicken and steak too). One of the problems w/ wings on the grill is that they just don't get crispy enough, but cooked w/ the Vortex they crisp up damn near as nicely as they do in a fryer and without all the grease stank.

Pics

Marinated in Franks and this is about 30 minutes on the grill:

Done and pre-sauced. Notice the crisp, fried-like skin (zoom: ctrl, +):

And sauced:

These were not just some of the best buffalo style grilled wings I've ever made, but some of the best wings I've ever tasted. If you're a fan of grilled wings, you gotta get the Vortex. Money well spent.

I don't think you could have come up with a better pitch for this thing, those pictures look absolutely incredible.

The pictures *almost* do them justice. So freakin' good.

I'm making them again tonight if the GD rain ever stops.

I looked at the Vortex, but I already have a ton of Weber accessories, including the Slow /n Sear. Not my photo, but wings do really well with it. They do crisp up, that thing gets hot.

My only thought on the Vortex is the Slow /n Sear is probably more versatile, but glad you like it! Agree with timsta, great advert shot!

Yeah, that's what people have said about the baskets and also the slow-n-sear, but you do lose out on a bit of the circular convection of having a concentrated heat source blasting up through the middle of the kettle.

That being said... The Slow N' Sear will probably be my next accessory purchase, and I might even then get rid of my WSM which has placed me well in some local, friendly competitions.

If you get rid of your WSM, consider this. LOVE mine. Between the Slow 'n Sear, and this, I'm done.

Well, and my Saber Infrared grill.
