I've never tried it, but my dad is a carpenter by trade, and this was the only way he would put up crown. Excellent finish!

Finishing nails are what you will want to use. Hammer them almost flat...

Great looking table!

I always used straight poly, Minwax brand, and applied it with a foam brush. IIRC 2 maybe 3 coats was always a great finish for me.

You don't have to worry so much about the sides staying in place with adhesive. When you put the vinyl on the foam will get pulled into place.
