It is a beast of a reciever. What kind of room do you plan on using it in and what kind of speakers do you plan on using with it?

Pretty much most of Onkyo's stuff is good shit. I had one of their receivers and a pre-amp years ago until I became a Yamaha fan, but everything I've ever heard of their gear has always been good.

One thing that did catch my eye was "Network capability for audio streaming, and USB front input"

w00t! I like that!

What kind of reviews on the street are they getting for that unit?

I was also looking at the "comparable" Yamaha stuff in this same range (RX-V3900 (http://www.yamaha.com/yec/products/productdetail.html?CNTID=5016803&CTID=5000300)), but I think the Onkyo beats it slightly (for a similar cost). The room itself is small, but I've got a LOT of gear to hook up to it, control, etc. Glad to hear mostly good things about the company...any thoughts on this unit, specifically? Can you see anything (major) that I'm missing? I know a lot is based on how I'll use it, but, in just looking at the specs, can you see any obvious weaknesses, for practically any user...any user that would drop this kind of coin on a receiver?

The reviews have been good, so far. I think the main negatives have been a) price, and b) the "quality" on the on-screen HD menus, specifically compared to the Yamahas. While slicker/cleaner/flashier on-screen menus would certainly be nice, I didn't think that would be a deal-breaker, since everything else I've read has been positive...some VERY positive.

Absolutely NO CLUE about speakers, yet. For the immediate install, I'm just gonna run with my current POS set of no-name specials, but plan to move up to some good ones, maybe in-wall/ceiling style? More questions on that later.

Thanks!
