Super bad ass, multi function media streaming server.
Load all your media on the server, watch it, in every room of the house. Different movies, different rooms, different music, all simultaneously.

Wow. Nice find Quads. If it had some way to integrate/share Tivo files or offer some form of Tivo like solution to share between rooms, then this is like the holy grail of media devices. I would be curious to see how reality differs from the marketing material though. But I really like where this is going.

I'm guessing very very pricey. Anyone have any idea of the price?

I've seen one in use. It was simply mind blowing. They had 5 different movies playing on 5 different LCD's in HD, and 2 different sound sections playing (front yard / back yard), playing different tunes on each. The problem was my visit was for like 5 minutes, and I'm looking for more input / information on it rather than driving down to the nearest dealer which is +/- 100 miles away. The system I saw at a 3U system with the sound / muzak units. From what I understand is they are *not* cheep. A nice system (like the one I saw) was in the 25K range.
You can skip most of the marketing BS in the site, and learn quite a bit from reading the FAQ on the devices.

Article is 2+ years old, but appears "entry level" is $10k and the bells-and-whistles model is $30k.

wow...sweet system!! For now though...my "Poor mans media server" works pretty cool. I store all my media on my computer's HD and then plug the PS3 into any tv in the house and I can play my movies/music/pictures wirelessly with the built in WI-FI. I've been d/l torrents like mad lately. getting a nice library going.

Hey Dave,
My goal for 2009 is to be able to stream media from my PC (or Network Attached Disks) to our TV in our living room. I was thinking about media extenders and stuff like that, but if the PS3 can do it out of the box, maybe I'll go that route.
If you don't mind, can you explain what you had to do to get the PS3 to work this way? What OS is on your computer? Can the PS3 connect to other wireless disks or just the PC?

From what I understand, Windows XP with Media Center loaded will do it right out of the box as well. There is a free / open source app that will do all the catalog / front end BS, but everything else is cut and dry. It's not the sexiest setup, but it's functional.
