Hello everyone,

Just curious if anyone has any real world experience with any wireless music devices?
Here is the situation.

I have a closet next to my kitchen that has all the "stuff" in it for my Living Room plasma and speakers. (I wired everything when the house was framed)
In any case, I had a 500 CD changer in there, but last week I ended up ripping out the entire works a re-wired a bunch of stuff. I also decided to do away with the changer and started ripping my entire collection. I have a PC in the kitchen (about 15 feet from the closet) The idea is that I want to be able to play the music on that PC and stream it to my receiver.

I dont need a full blown media streaming device, just something that will work good.
Any advice would be great.

Thanks
_Rob

I purchased an Omni-fi streamer a number of years ago that works wired or wirelessly (came with an adapter). The problem with it was that it didn't support WPA, only WEP. So I wired it to avoid reducing my wifi security. I also didn't want the bandwidth bogged down with mp3, so I never really used that capability.

Whatever you opt to do, just make sure your streamer supports your wireless security protocols.

You still probably want to look at a MP3 streamer. It will come with a remote control and such that you can control the music without being at the computer. If you elect just to wirelessly transmit the audio output of the computer, you won't be able to control the music without being at the computer. Just a thought.
