I have a Sony 32" LCD - model KDL32M4000. Its a pretty good TV. I bought it one month used from work for $425.

I'm firmly in Sony's camp due to my high satisfaction in general with most of their products.

I love my Wega XBR CRT and could care less how far back it's tube casing projects outwards at the back of the set; I've still yet to see a better 1080i picture on any other set.

As for the new LCDs out there it'd definitely be Sony for me. Great TVs and accessories for them (Playstations, Blu-ray players, etc..) is what they do well.

All the reviews on the Vizio are positive. A couple people complained about the sound quality but that's not a big deal to me as I will attach a small surround to it.

But the Sony has this fancy decoration on the front that says "sony bravia" and apparently gives you all kind of street cred.

Sony's quality > Vizio's quality.

Where is it going to be in your house? I got my tv a couple of months ago, my biggest problem with the vizios is there asthetics(sp?). Compared to the "top" brands the vizios were just ugly. If it is for your wife and going somewhere like the living room, this is probably a concern. I would probably go with the sony sight unseen for the extra $150.

What about viewing distance? I have a 32" LCD Vizio in the bedroom which is primarily used for gaming and it serves its purpose perfectly. If your viewing distance is greater than 10' you will start to lose the benefits of the better quality on the Sony. I'm with Quads, save the jack and get the Vizio.

Well, I have that Sony 32" LCD HDTV, and it kicks some major ass. But I first bought a Sanyo LCD HDTV and hooked it all up. Then, a couple days later, on Black Friday, the Sony Bravia 32" was on sale for what I paid for the Sanyo, so I bought it. I didn't think there would be too much difference in picture quality between two tv's that are the same price, but I was waaaayyy wrong. The Sony Bravia gives such a great picture. So, in short, my advice is to pick up the Sony Bravia...and then get HD.
