My dream basement is 90% complete. I need to put some finishing touches on the bathroom and build an L-shaped bar where the card table currently sits. Other than that, it is pretty much finished. The project took many evenings and weekends over the course of a year, but was well worth it.

Here are a few pictures from just as we were getting started; one of which has a portion of my brother-in-law in it, who was extremely helpful during the entire project. The walls are poured concrete, so I had to devise a way to hang my plasma and mount without the fear of seeing it crash to the ground. The mount I used allows me to pull it away from the wall and rotate it nearly perpendicular to the wall.

You should have left the red poles exposed. They would have made much better stripper poles than the wood ones....

The Poker table will come after I finish the bar. I have a spot all picked out for it over by the window.

Wow, awesome work! Of course you're not getting away with just posting sweet ass pictures without some questions though. :D

Looks like you dry walled the walls - did you build out a full 2x4 wall then sheet rock, use furring strips, etc. The finished product looks great.

Any references, information, or some close up pics of that kick ass ceiling? Is that real wood or some kind panel?

Thanks for sharing!

The outside four walls were already dry walled when I bought it, but the guy did a piss poor job with the first coat of mud, so I had to sand the shit out of it. With this type of basement, as you can see from the picture where I cut away for the mount, there is three inches of foam on the inside as well as three inches on the outside. They pour the concrete down the middle. You can see at the top of the picture where I cut the dry wall and foam away that there are black what look like tabs at the top. Those are actually hard plastic studs that run up and down and that is what the dry wall is screwed to.

The ceiling and the wall on the stairwell is real wood. Tongue and grove, end match pine from a local lumber company. I will post some more pics.

1. Wow.

2. You need more wine.

3. Love the staircase landing.

4. You left the lid down on the toilet, the cat can't use it. Please leave the lid up in the future.

5. Wow, again.

Ahhh, I see now, thanks for the explanation. Interesting, I've never seen anything like that before, it's like a stay-in-place insulated form for the concrete wall. Cool.

Your basement was built out of Eco-Bloc. It's like legos for adults. Build a structure, tie in steel support rods, pour, finish enjoy. Good insulation factor and easy to work with.
