We had some in the attic several years ago at the old house. The exterminator put some poison in the attic that sucks the water out of the mice. They dryout so bad that they immediately go away from the house looking for water. If they die in the attic they dont stink too bad either. I dont know where he got it, but i assume that you can find t at Home Depot ar somewhere like that.

Just got done trapping the ceiling in my basement, I spent close to a 100 bucks on killing these fuckers!!! After I posted the first post on this thread i went up stairs to watch some of the games and one of the little fers came running out in front of me, whacked it with a broom. I went right ot lowes and got a ton of stuff. If I dont kill a bucnh and get rid of them for a while Im gettign an exterminator. I figured they would be coming in cause it just really started getting cold.

Once the problem is solved, which I hope for you is soon, I have a kick ass joke you can play on the wife.

Get a fake/rubber/cat toy mouse from the dollar store or a pet store. Get some fishing line or some thread. Tie the thread to the fake mouse. Set the mouse on a shelf in a frequently used kitchen cabinet, preferably one that is up high. Take the other end of the string, tape it to the door of the cabinet. close the door so the sting is not hanging out of the cabinet.

Most important part.....grab your video camera.

Watch the wife shit her pants the next time she goes to get something out of that cabinet.

Post here.

Hey bro, I have the same problem in my garage. I was told to get the Victor Electronic Mouse Trap, Model# M250. I guess all you have to do is put some peanut butter and wait for the little bastards to fry themselves! The guy who told me about this device said he was catching them with great success.

I'm having a hard time finding it ay my Home Depot, I may pick it up online. If you happen to go this route, please keep us updated to see if it works!

You don't want to use the poison you can buy over the counter, I'm told. The stuff you can buy at the store will certainly kill them but they will smell up your house as they decompose. Apparently the shit the exterminators use prevents the smelling up the place

My wife wanted to get a cat or two, but I said fuck it, and just named the mice. "Mittens", "Boots", and "Stan".

Sure, you can't pet them, but they don't eat or shit nearly as much.

Nooner speaks true.

My wife has four cats. I'll trade you three for as many mice as you'd like to unload.

Our house sits next to a large corn field. Every fall around harvest time, the whether turns cold and the combines get into the field, the mice find their way into our house.

We just get some De-Con shit from Wal-Mart. Works like a charm. You can get the same shit that dries them up and keeps them from smelling now. That's what we used.

The first year we lived here (before we realized this was a problem) we had a huge infestation starting in October. Put a bunch of poison out, and it got them. I found close to 15 dead mice (a lot of them babies) in my garage. None of them smelled.

how long would you guys wait before calling an exterminator.

About 10 mins. Last year when we moved into our house we found mice in the basement! Full disclosure my ass! Anyway, exterminator came out next day, did an inspection. He found some possible entry sites which I closed up. Put out some bait stations. Only found 2 mice after that, most probably died in the walls. We decided to get on their quarterly plan where they spray the outside of the house for normal bugs and check the bait stations. Long story short it took 3 trips before their were no longer "hits" on the bait stations. So if you do it DIY keep refilling and checking your poison. But really what you need to do is find how they are getting in. Go around your foundation and inside your basement. Any hole the size of a dime or larger they can get in. Fill it with cement or steel/copper wool. They can chew thru foam but you can at least visually inspect it and know if that is where they are getting in. Long post hope it helps, mice suck!

we had some after we moved in. new development, unfinished garage. We found out they were sneaking in under the drywall in the unfinished garage and crawling up to the attic. I put sticky traps around the edge of the garage, caught about 6 mice, haven't heard from em since.

Just make sure they don't get into your car's air box...

i've got the same problem come winter time. I use the d con traps and last year they worked alright. as for the cat suggestion, I have one and while he did catch one last year, the cat doesnt seem to deter the mice whatsoever.

someone told me about the poison that dries them out, I would love to find some of the good stuff. his exterminator acquaintance hooked him up and there were no little corpses lying around. Supposedly they ate the baits, and ran out looking for water because it dehydrates them... i need to find this...

anyways, if anyone has any other fool proof suggestion for the little rat turds let me know..
