View Full Version : Kegerator has always foamed badly

My Haier kegerator's first beer is always 75% foam. If I pull a second right after the first it is perfect. However mostly one is pulled at a time and I either pour off the foam or let it sit a minute. What is wrong?

Regulator?
Temperature?
WHAT????

The reason why is that the first beer is going through the tower, and the lines and the tap in the tower, which is warm compared to the keg. When the beer hits the warm lines, the beer foams. After the first beer runs through the warm lines it cools the lines. The second beer is now running through cool lines and therefore doesn't foam. Unless you cool your tower and the lines running through it, the first beer will always foam. You just have to live with it or find a way to cool the tower.

Agree with Beach. My tower is not cooled and I have to let the first bit run off before I get golden brown beer.

Thanks. The bottom of the tower is open but I guess it is warmer than the fridge part(little insulation).

I am in agreement with the others. The warmth of the tower is causing the foam. The other thing I've always found is if you have the pressure set high it will foam more at first as well. Sometimes depending on how long since you've used it.

I used to have a frig with a tap coming through the door and I always had foam problems with it too? Nothing was warm? Mess with pressure etc. Now, I acutally have about an 8 foot run of insulated line from my frig to where my taps are and I don't have much of a foam issue. The first glass but that is it? So, it's not all temp.

Tinker around with your pressure.
