View Full Version : warped cornhole boards!!! finally with pics.
So on Saturday, one of our sports teams hosted a cornhole tournament, They were a set short, so I let them use my boards and bags.
I take them over and go to set them up and then I notice.....one of my boards if warped like a sonofabitch!!!! By about 1 inch. I folded up a bag to set underneath the one leg, but goddamn, its pretty bad. I had them leaning up against the wall for some time and apparently I had them at a bad angle and the warpage ensued. I'm not happy!
any suggestions on how to fix the current situation????
I have some extra paver/edger blocks. I was going to set it on a flat surface, put the heaviest blocks on the warped end to push that end back to earth. I will weigh down the other 3 corners too. You guys think this will work????
If not, it gives me a reason to do some work in the garage.

Sounds like the support boards (along the edges) warped too, not just the top???? That is a little surprising. Did you use 2x4s or something smaller. You probably need to remove the two warped support boards and replace them. Or, you can try to straighten it out by getting a piece of angle iron for both edges. But, once the wood is warped, it is hard to get back straight.

sounds to me like the best solution is to build new ones. I make sets for people all the time. Great reason to get out of the house anyhow!

In the garage. fingers are crossed that they will magically un-warp over the winter. Don't plan on that happening tho.

You could just do what the Wife and I did....we bought Cornhole (bag toss) for the Wii for 900 points :D. Now we can play in climate controled comfort and nto have to worry about where to set our beer.

Make you some of these and you don't have to worry about where you put your beer either.

Hey it only took me 6 months...but I got the pictures finally!
This is a ground level shot, to give you a sense of how warped it is. It is actually a bit less, as I had my "solution" on it for a while.

The solution......BEER!

Well, beer, plus a landscape block on top of a 12 pack.
as you might be able to see in the solution photo, I'm in the middle of making another set, this one for pay. $200, painted with drink stands. I think that is a fair price.

nicely done T hopefully they do re warp.
$200 is a great price for you! you got a great client. How much does a sheet of plywood and the 2x4's cost... $20, tops?

total cost for materials was around $50-$60. Biggest thing is the painting. 1 coat primer, then 2 coats of paint. I'm also putting a custom paint job on the boards. One is red, the other is white. With "Dogs" written in script. Just like what is on our football helmets, as the boards are for our football coach.
I think I'm going to do the drink stands with red bases and tops, with white middle uprights. I also purchased some white jumbo plastic drink holders to drop in.
These are gonna look tits!

how do you sleep at night charging people fees like that? J/K
nice sale
how about getting the wood on the warped set really wet...then weighting it down to flatten it more? also, painting both sides of the wood will keep if from drawing moisture in the future.
These parts, boards sell for $150, painted. This whole script Dogs is a fucking pain in the ass. I had the art teacher draw me up a stencil. I then use graphite paper to trace the design on the boards, then paint. Probably 2 coats. Its some meticulous shit. But they look sweet. The white one is pretty much just the opposite paint job.

I'm gonna do my standard drink stands, Red bottom and top, white support, with white jumbo plastic drop ins. Those are definitely worth every penny of $50, if you play a lot of bags, and drink a lot of beer!
