I'm looking to buy a dewalt biscuit joiner, and have found a place online that sells them refurbed. Anyone have any experience buying that kind of thing refurbed? Is it worth paying 1/3rd less or should I buy it new?

If it carries the same OEM warranty, I usually don't have an issue with it.

I've gotten most of my tools, except what I owned before I know of SK & PMC and my first Router, as refurbs. If they have it there I'll buy it there before I go anywhere else.

I think I bought my dewalt bisciut joiner refurbed iirc. Haven't had any issues with it or my refurbed porter cable router.

I always go for refurbed when available. Porter-Cable's policy is that if a customer returns any tool and the box has been opened then it needs to get sent back to their refurb/inspection factory in Mexico, gets stamped as refurbed, and then retailers can sell it at whatever price they may.

I purchased my PC table saw and circ saw from ToolKing.com (http://www.toolking.com/porter-cable_557r.aspx)and have had no problems. I'm fairly sure both items were as I described in the scenario above as neither tool showed any dings, nicks, scratches, etc..

BTW if you'd like FineWoodworking.com's review of biscuit joiners I've got it in PDF format; PM me your email addy.
