Good day all... first post here at the PMC but some of you will recognize the name from CT and HPT.

It's been a couple of years since I've had to look into the foam, so I figured I would start a new thread. I am recovering my racetrack table with charcoal suited speed cloth from txpokersupply, and I need to replace the foam too. Back when I built the table, I used headliner material, closed cell foam at 1/4" thick, but it was creased and it never did fully lose its crease. So I want to replace the foam too, and I'm wondering what the current preferred padding material is, and where it is available. I want to stay at 1/4" so I have a flush playing surface with the racetrack.

Thanks!

I think the ¼" closed cell foam is still the favorite:

That's what I used and can't see any reason to use something different. Most of the other types, like the headliners I've felt, are really thin and/or spongy. I don't like that.

I buy everything I can from YAT but others probably have a similar product. I'm TX Poker Supply does if you like him.

Volara has alotta bounce. I cover the volara with headliner, just to take out the bounce.

then he'd be over the 1/4" allowance for his flush playing surface. I use this stuff... It's open cell but if you have suited cloth then I don't see the need for closed cell... Just my opinion though.

I find it harder than headliner but softer than 2eo volara. It's been a happy medium for me and no customer complaints. The problem with volara that my customers didn't like was a little more difficulty picking up their cards. With this stuff though no complaints... ;)

True..but headliner is so thin, I don't know if it'd make a difference.

I've never had an issue with picking up the cards on volara...but your link might be a solution to needing two layers of foam... interesting.

That stuff looks interesting. Last time I played at the local casino who had brand new tables built by a local company, I found it quite difficult to pick up my cards. This stuff might be the ticket.

I get foam from these guys. they are local. this stuff is thicker and a lot softer than the volara. comes in full sheets and still good bounce back. cheap too:
