What websites do you guys recommend to learn the latest in A/V, and where one can do some hard-core research as to what's the best?

www.hometheaterspot.com has some great stuff. They have a Mitsubishi forum, for example, with a ton of good information if you happen to have a large screen Mits.

I'd second hometheaterforum.com. It's a very well run forum, although the traffic is sometimes slow. Definitely a very good place for a novice. avs gets tons of traffic, but it can be a bit harsh and intimidating. There are also, IMO, a lot of "follow" posts there, i.e., people telling you that you have to get something because it's the best, and in the next breath they tell you that this is the first one they bought and they have no experience with any other model. You should also take a look at room layouts in www.dolbylabs.com
