Make the $1 (for a cash set) and/or the T10 (for a tourney set) the same blue/gray theme as the PMC give-away chips.
I might be wrong with the denominations...you know what I mean! Make one of the chips very similar in color & look to the PMC memorial chip, just to tie it all together. Maybe another chip similar in color scheme to the RoughStuff theme (tan/red/black), if that makes sense?
Give PMC members a BIG discount on purchases?
I think the simpler, the better, as far as artwork/fonts go. Just my $0.02. Looking forward to seeing some designs!!!
p.s. Thanks for sending out my chips last week! I'll let you know when they arrive! Appreciate it!!!
Depending on price I would be interested in a cash set.
Not sure what the standard denominations would be for a cash set.
But I am keeping my eye on this thread.

That sounds good to me.
What would be the normal/average amount one would but for each denom?

For a 8 person table, I would look at the following as a minimum
25c - 125chips
$1 - 100chips
$5 - 50chips
$20 - 25chips
just a suggestion. 300 chips is a good number IMO

I have a few cash sets, and this is the breakdown I like:
200-.25's
200-1's
140-5's
60-20's
I host a .25/.50 cash game every week, and I like a lot of chips on the table. This works great for me.

might want to also take into consideration if the people you regularly play with have deep pockets and if you regularly have a lot of money on the table at the end of the night...
if so you might want to go heavier on $1/$5 dollar chips as opposed to $.25 chips
what do you usually play btw?

Nothing big just .50 / $1.00 - I really want to get a cash set just never pulled the trigger.
I have a group of 8 - 12 guys that I could get a full table of 9 going easily.

yeha you can def go heavier on $1/$5 because your "standard" raises will be in the $3-5 neighborhood anyways... i would also get 10-25 of the $25 denoms.
and as far as 300 vs 500 chip sets - i've always been a fan of at least a 500 chip set... dont want to leave yourself short.. and it puts a lot of chips on the table if you like that also.
Yea I was thinking 500 set.
So what do you think would be a good spread of denoms with a 500 set.
Rounder Wannabe
09-20-2008, 10:43 PM
if it were me... for 500 chips...i'd probably do something like..
40 x $.25
160 x $1
280 x $5
20 x $25
or if you can get $.50 chips would make it easier too for the people that have 50/1 games..
but this might be a good set up if you are playing 50/1...
40 x $.25
160 x $1
280 x $5
20 x $25
or if you can get $.50 chips would make it easier too for the people that have 50/1 games..
but this might be a good set up if you are playing 50/1...
Thanks for the input.
Guma - this is what I would be looking at - Once you get a design together, let me what a price would be for the above.

right on. i think its a good distribution.. def dont have a lot of small chips... and at those blind levels the 1/5 chips will make buyins and cash outs a lot easier.
also, if you get non-denom ones that can make your game even more flexible (if you player lower stakes)
Rounder Wannabe
09-20-2008, 10:55 PM
btw - what is your min/max buy in?
also, if you get non-denom ones that can make your game even more flexible (if you player lower stakes)
Would you just set the blank to what ever denom prior to game ? Is that what you mean?
btw - what is your min/max buy in?
It can vary depending on how we want the game to go.
$20 / $60
$40 / $100
Low stakes not a lot of high rollers at the game.
Rounder Wannabe
09-20-2008, 11:01 PM
yeah.......or set it to $.50 if Guma doesn't end up making $.50 chips

yeah then that 500 chip set up would work pretty good for your game...
lets say for $40 buy in...
8x .25 = $2.00
13 x 1 = $13.00
5 x $5 = $25.00
or something. lol

They look Awesome!!! Much thanks to all involved.
cash set:
300 count - $1 = 125, $5 = 125, $25 = 50
500 count - $1 = 210, $5 = 200, $25 = 75, $100 = 15
I'd be interested in a 300 set of the denoms mentioned. When your not busy PM'ing and collecting addresses, Please direct me to the 411 of it all, Again thanks..
Ok so it looks like 4 chips will be part of the design...
What I can do to try and satisfy the masses would be to design the chips, 4 of them. Then as people place the orders, they can request the denomination they want on the chips.
I will put denominations on the mock-ups but these can be changed to suit individual needs.
Sound good?

I am figuring I can put the denom in either the lower left or right hand quadrant of the center. Just need to get the Font that was used on the outer text from Trann, and I can add the denom.

I like the colors.
The denom I think would look good to the left.
The date on the gift chip is a great idea, not sure how I feel about the date on an actual usable cash set.
Perhaps a double up of PerfectManCave around the outside with a different suit separating the double up.
Blue could have dimonds suit
Red could have the heart suit
Green could have the spade suit
Yellow could ave the club suit.
What do you think?

Kill the martini or man on one side, and insert a denom. (if you killed the dude, then the denom would be the same looking font of some sorts) Me thinks kill the martini.
I like the color combo. Green .25 cent, blue $1, Red $5, and $20 yella.
That's the pimp.

x3 on the martini idea
Kill the martini and the date, Roger!... May have to play around with text size to double up the Perfect Man Cave text, no big deal. I like the idea of separating the texts with a Suit, and then carry that over to the edge as well.
Denom only on one side, or Large on the side where I remove the Martini, and smaller to the lower left of the Man?

Large denom on one side.
If someone is looking at the dude on one side of the green chip and can't figure out if it's a .25 cent chip, or a $20 chip, they might wants to reevaluate playing poker for real money.

All great ideas, so far. Without seeing it through a mockup, I'd still lean towards a large denom on one side, with a small denom on the other. Quads is right about the colors, but...why not add it, just to be "safe"?
Just a thought...it MIGHT look like heck, once we see the mockup.

Ok here is a rework of the Man side...
Decide which text you like better Upper Left or Lower Right.
Small Denom - for those that don't want it at all, no problem, when you order just let me know.
Critique away, I am not a designer, so I may be using too much gimicky stuff in PS.

Guma, So after seeing the small denom it's not that great - Thanks for showing - Yes Q you were right.
I like the original text that you posted, in order to double on the PMC did you have to change the font to make it fit?
The separation suits per color between the two PMC did not make the cut?

Haven't gotten to the suits yet... I will though
The Font I had to change until Trann can get me the font he used in the initial design. I do not have it, and was just fooling around with a font that was similar. I think this one is too thick, I don't particularly like it either.

Hit the nail on the head there.
Like the chips, they are money.
Here is an idea, just an idea:
On the man side, lose the denom next to the guy. But put in text, where the 2nd inverted PMC lettering is....Spell out the denom. One Dollar, twenty-five cents etc.
Just an idea I thought of.
Or you can just go without it as a whole on the man side of the chip, keeping the denom on the denom side of the chip and not cluttering up the front of the chip

my .2 centavos, just a suggestion:
Lower right text, large denom one side.
Alternate the martini/man on the chips
Orange/.25/man one side/colored denom outlined in black on other
Blue/1/martini one side/colored denom outlined in black on other
Red/5/man one side/colored denom outlined in black on other
Green/25/martini one side, colored denom outlined in black on other
Yellow/100/man on one side/colored denom outlined in black on other

It might be too late already, but...
Is there a "drop shadow" (or whatever it is called) on the "MAN" text? The word(s) that have the same color as the middle area? To me, that particular text looks a little "muddy", and might be clearer if the dark shadow was absent. Just a thought. It looks good when the text in question is the center color, but when it is the opposite side of the chip & the text is "white", it looks kinda dark/sloppy, TO ME. Just IMextremelyHO!!!
K just got back from bowling... 6 and 2 4 weeks straight, Woohoo!
XXX - yes there is an inner shadow on the "Man" and part of the Denom text. I can remove that and see what kind of print I get from there.

Those chips look great!
But for a better evaluation, I need you to send me 300-500 of those bad boys of varying demons, so I can use them in a game for lets say about 5 or so years, then I could give you a more proper evaluation and an honest opinion. I of course will ship them back to you once I'm done evaluating the chips.;)

I like the first green and blue rather than the later test of darker / lighter.
Remember ,the green is going to "mellow out" after people get them in their hands and they see some play. The blue will just get richer in color.

Personally, I think the text looks a LOT better without the shadow (no offense to Shadow (http://www.perfectmancave.com/forum/member.php?find=lastposter&t=6066)! ;) )
I like the old green, but kinda like the new blue a bit more...but could certainly "live" with the older, darker blue. My original thought was to have it be the same color of blue on the "free" chips. As always, just my $0.02.
Nice work!!!
I like the 1st green more. The new green is more "mint green" like mint ice cream, and a bit limp wristed for something that represents the Man Cave. The first is more neon green and more Man Caveish. A kelly green, like the boston celtics, that would be ideal, but of the first 2, I like #1 and it is much closer to your first mock up, so I'm guessing that is exactly what you wanted and its your show and we will pretty much buy anything you make up
I also like blue #1 better.
Just wondering here. How does the chip with the drop shade/shadow look in hand. I think we may be missing something in the pictures. The latest round of pics of actual chips are a bit closer up, than the first run of 4. I think the shadow may possibly get a bit blurry/muted with distance, but closer up, they might look fine.
Another thing. As a whole, this style of chip tends to get a bit muted/faded just the way the chips are by nature as compared to a computer mock up which has richer and bolder colors. Kinda like the :stfu: chips and even the SKPT chip Q sent us out. I was a bit shocked at how faded it initally appeared, but I got used to it and it is pretty much normal in appearance now to me. And speaking of the STFU chips, I'm thinking you could corner that market pretty quick.

....should it say perfectmancave.com on it? Just a thought.
These are Sunfly blanks, right? They look like the Pre V7 NJ blanks because of that line around the edge of the chip. Do they have the shiny edges? I'm really curious as to how these feel. I have like 1200 custom NJ's, and to be honest, I don't like the feel of them after handling Chipcos.(the edges on mine are printed really light for one thing) Mine are the original blanks though, and from what I understand, the chips have changed a lot since I got mine.
How much is a sample set of say, 20 chips so I can see if I like the feel?

I might have missed it, but where is the chip cost? Might possibly be interested in putting together a smallish cash set for games taking place after my tournies.
Would be interested in a sample set as well before making a purchase.

Just wondering here. How does the chip with the drop shade/shadow look in hand. I think we may be missing something in the pictures.
If it is similar text to the "free chips", I think the pictures look about the same. IMHO. When I got my free chips in the mail, I was headed to a local casino that very night. I used on as a card cover, and in flipping it around and looking at it all night, I really noticed the drop shadow'ed text looked a bit muddy...in person, on the actual chip. It wasn't bad or anything, it just seemed like if the shadow was removed, it might look a little more clear. My guess is that with time, that shadowy, muddy look will only get worse. Again, YMMV...it was just a guess on my part. Either way, I think they look GREAT!
I think doctorxxx said it best about the shadow on the text.
Ok so it seems the original colors have it!
....should it say perfectmancave.com on it? Just a thought.
These are Sunfly blanks, right? They look like the Pre V7 NJ blanks because of that line around the edge of the chip. Do they have the shiny edges? I'm really curious as to how these feel. I have like 1200 custom NJ's, and to be honest, I don't like the feel of them after handling Chipcos.(the edges on mine are printed really light for one thing) Mine are the original blanks though, and from what I understand, the chips have changed a lot since I got mine.
How much is a sample set of say, 20 chips so I can see if I like the feel?
Yes, these are Sunfly blanks. They do have the hi-gloss edge on them as well. Without much prior knowledge of the previous blanks and I can not speak intelligently about how these may compare. We can definitely get some samples out to you of these chips so you could make the comparisons, and throw it up on here in a new thread.
I will put up details on prices and sample sets in an order thread we will get up hopefully tonight. To appease the curious, chips will be $0.59 each, plus shipping. Price includes the two different images and the text on edge.
I will finish up the edge design tonight, revert back to original colors and get some full samples printed up. Once I get those done I will get the pictures up in an Order Thread.
Before I get too far ahead of myself... You guys like the same eges? Suit will match the suit on the face of the chip

Here are all the edges...
Had to make a small change on the Yellow chip. "All things Man" in what got washed out, so I filled it in... Still seems to get lost... may have to black.

Had to make some minor tweaks to the edges today. We ran some and the suits were too large. They were coming over the face of the chip. Shrank them just a bit and put them through again...

As for the 20$ , no idea that was Quads suggestion, but in cash it makes sense to me.
For those that are interested in a set of these but do not like the current denom configuration, I have offered to change the denoms around.
i.e. green .50 and yellow $25
Just let me know when/if you order and we will make the necessary changes. Later today, I will finally open the order thread with all the items listed that can be changed around.
I personally prefer the $20 for a cash game too, $20 chip - $20 bill

Thinking about that more....that actually IS a better denom for cash home games. my feeble mind was thinking tournament play.

Again, a little late to the party, but...they look GREAT! Any thoughts on a different graphic for each denom??? Meaning, the "man" on one chip, the drink on another, and two OTHER things for the other chips...maybe a stylized big screen TV & a BBQ or pool table or something? FOUR of the things that make this place, well, "what it is"?
Just a thought. The colors certainly lead you to the denominations easily, but IF the main graphics were each different, that could make them visually different in that way, too.
GREAT WORK!!!

The chips are pretty outstanding. The wife is doing some kick ass work btw.
I have a few questions about the cash game stuff. I also never put the $20 chip and the $20 bill together, but then again, you will understand later.
On the order thread you put the set ups like this for a 350 set up:
Order Format - in this thread
Denom - Center Image - Amount
.25 - Man - 100 chips
$1 - Man - 150 chips
$5 - Man - 60 chips
$20 - Man - 40 chips
Total - 350
or
.50 - TV -100 chips
$1 - Beer Bottle - 150 chips
$5 - Man - 60 chips
$25 - Grill - 40 chips
The cash games we play, a $20 chip would pretty much never come into play and a $5 chip would be used, but more on a rebuy to cash in quickly so to not slow up the game, then chip up from the chip leaders. We don't roll with big balla rolls of cash to play. We keep it low and most buy ins are in the $40 max range. That would put essentially 100 chips of the 350 in the set that look cool, but rarely would ever come into play.
My biggest question is.... How much of a pain in the ass is it to customize a chip set? I'm not all that familiar with the chip pressing/printing/how ever the hell you do it process.
I would more than likely get the bulk of the chips in the 25/50 cent range with maybe 50 or so 1's and just a handful of 5's. I like the new images Jess did. I would prefer to incorporate them into the set, but I'm unsure of the overall pain in the ass factor, or any and all upcharges for customizing a set.
Lastly. Obviously, with the lack of a balla roll. I don't exactly have an extra $300 just waiting to be used on a chip set. But I'm looking to the holiday season that is coming up quickly as to things I can focus my sights on.
Thanks and keep up the great work.

T what I got from the order sample of 350 that Guma put up was that when you place in order do so in this format ...
Denoms / Chips qty
Customization
etc.
I did not get that you had to order the Qty of denoms that he assigned to make a 350 set, although I now understand why it may be that way.
Cause I x 2 everything T said.
So Guma just a little clarification ..
25 - Man - 100 chips
$1 - Man - 150 chips
$5 - Man - 60 chips
$20 - Man - 40 chips
To order a 350 set and lets say we don't want $20 or not as many can we then order more of the $5 to make of the qty of 350?
T,
Thanks for the props and I will pass on your sentiments to Jess as well! I completely agree, she really is putting some great work together!
It will not be a problem at all if you do not want the larger denomination chips and would like to put both a .25 and .50 chip in your set. We are trying to make this set as flexible as we can for you guys, and changing denoms around is not a pain at all.
The only thing we really have to do is have Trann add some additional Denomination options to the graphics for us. Once he does that then we select the denomination you want, add it to the design and start printing.
This set will be a permanent fixture here on PMC, so when you do get your big balla funds together let us know and we will get started on your order right away.

I don't know...there have got to be more "experts" here on this kind of stuff! ;)
Maybe PINK = $2.50 (for a PINK CHIP game?) and PURPLE = $0.50 (for us LOW rollers & a .25/.50 or a .50/1.00 game)? Again, I don't know what I'm talking about, but those are just some quick thoughts. Maybe SIX options aren't even necessary. Or throw in a dark (black) one for $100???
I'm gonna go gab another cup of coffee and try to wake up...
The Pink $2.50 chip is a great idea! Purple chip or black chip... Give me to this evening and I will get some mock-ups done for ya!

The $2.50 pink chip is more commonly referred to as a Snapper used on Blackjack tables.
My ideal set up would be something that probably wasn't labled with an actual denom, that way I could use them in a tourney set up also. I'm thinking the way I do a tourney could almost be interchangeable with the cash game set up.
I normally do a tourney with
12-25's
12 100's
1 500
for T-2000. With my soprano's I have green/black/purple and grey. Purple = 500 and Grey = 1000. Most times we don't even have to break out the greys, unless we get a really big crowd.
The thing with the purple and black chips is if the light sucks, they are difficult to tell one from the other. Just something to think about when mixing up the colors.
T
T- here is an option that may work for you...
Since you do not like denoms we can get rid of them front and back. Repeat the "Perfect Man Cave" arced text on both sides, and then use different center images for different colors.
This way your set could be dual purpose, cash/tourney.
As far as colors go, if you want those specific colors, we could probably work that in as well.

I'm not sure where to place this, If its in the wrong place please let me know so I can redirect.
I personally am extremely happy with my new chips (first ceramics) and feel the need to give a testimonial of some sort. Believe me and you will see if you take the time to go over this that I am not a pro when it comes to this. I couldn't even come up with a format so I stole and ammended one from "the other place".
Anyway here it is, please feel free to slap and tickle it as you see fit.
P.M.C. custom poker chips
retailer: http://www.luckyacesgaming.com/
price: $0.59 cents per chip, shipping not included (price offered to PMC members)
material: Ceramic
reviewed by: Morningwood
First impression:
Upon first inspection all the colors were found to be crisp, bright and consistent throughout the chip(s). The designs and special requests used to construct the chips were spot on.
General overview:
These chips were a design collaboration of Lucky Aces gaming http://www.luckyacesgaming.com/ and contributing members of the Perfect Man Cave D.I.Y. forum http://perfectmancave.com/forum/ together design opinions, polling and some creative tweaking here and there, the P.M.C. ceramic poker chips were created. The chips are available in the form of samples up to full sets of your choosing. Because of the flexibility of design, needs and desires of the customer, they can cater to produce these chips geared toward either tournament or a cash game applications.
pros:
Price is market comparable for customs, the design is spot on to what was requested, these chips stack well, because of the bright colors and material they play well.
Customer service from request submission to payment transaction to delivery was smooth, and faster than originally estimated, packaging was top notch and as a bonus I received the “bakers dozen” meaning I actually received a few extra chips of each denomination “just in case any defects were found” in order to keep the integrity of the set intact.
cons:
Other than one chip (out of 500 plus) that had its artwork slightly off center and a couple with scratches (the bakers dozen cured these issues), none much to gripe over.
final word:
The final verdict, I am guilty of loving these chips. I receive nothing but compliments on the design and playability from my weekly regulars. Overall Lucky Aces did an awesome job from “cradle to table” with these chips, I wouldn’t hesitate to use Lucky Aces again so I can add more P.M.C. custom ceramics (or other styles) to my chip arsenal.

I like Morningwood's review of the chips.....
But do you really want them posted on the net at $0.59/chip? I'm sure somebody at some point is going to that review and want their chips at that price when we all know you aren't going to/nor should you sell them at 60 cents/chip.
Just an outside observation.
T
T,
We are selling these chips to members of PMC at that price. We also have this same offer with CT, and HPT members. This is following an agreement we have in place with another chip manufacturer who set us up with the business. They have the same offer for CT and HPT as well.
As far as someone off the street or whom our resellers sell to, yes they are charged the retail versus wholesale price for the chips.
I appreciate your concern and the headsup, it is much appreciated.

If you think I should take the price out I can edit the post. It does say that the price is market comparible.
You might want to change it to something saying price offered to PMC members...

T,
We are selling these chips to members of PMC at that price.
I figured as much, but since I don't troll around over at those joints, I didn't know for sure. I just saw the potential for a headache down the road for you, thought I'd point it out.
