Has anyone ever bought these or handled them?

I dont know much about them esp. with all the great reviews of the faux's but these are slightly different than the original ones it looks like and the colors are really great. If anyone has them let me know how they are. thanks

They are decent for a plastic / non slugged chip at the price.
There is nothing special about them.

the weight is a bit on the low side. I know I would feel like I had some of the cheapie chips you could get at walmart with a deck of cheap cards.

Are they cheap? Yep. But at that price, who cares? They serve the same purpose as the customs. Granted they aren't as heavy and nearly as flashy, but for a starter set up of some chips, you can't go wrong with them. It looks like the only new colors are the light blue and brown, eliminating the grey and orange. I think the red on the new ones are a bit orange in color for me. They can also be hot stamped.

I'm also a big fan of the Soprano chips too. http://discountcasinogear.com/store/product1441.html

Faux clays have a better feel and quality to them for the same $, IMHO:

Problem is that they're only available in Red, white & gray now. However, if you've got a little time, you can buy all white and dye them to whatever color you'd like. I have a tourney set I dyed several months back, can't beat it for the money:

Can't hot-stamp faux clays though.

those dyed chips a bad ass! I never would have thought you could do that. I don't frequent CT, mainly because I'm not a chip whore, nor am I in the market for any new chips, that and its a total cluster fuck to navigate.

Pretty sweet, but why have you been stricken from the books?

STRICKEN FROM THE BOOKS....but hopefully not for long.

I'm not all that active over there mainly because there are so many forums, but I check out a handful of the subforums and have participated in a few group buys. Dying faux clays is a great way to get a cheap custom set of chips, it's just a little time consuming and messy. I did over the course of 4 days (a color a day), took about 4-5 to completely dye 1,000 chips.

Don't know why I was stricken from the books, I'll have to ask why.

I've been reading/browsing the pages following your post. Those guys need to build a goddamn table. Those ghey looking blue CT table toppers are just sad. Then one guy who keeps posting "action shots" of his dyed chips has a big ass wrinkle in his carbon fiber rail.... if they just took time to make a good table, they would be hooked, or at least be able to enjoy their chips a bit more on a quality table.

They may know their chips, but they don't know their ass from apple butter when it comes to a poker table.

I would buy some, if I played more poker at the house and had a need for more chips. But I also just don't like the dice border/edge spots. Looks too much like a slug dice chip. Can you dye the white super diamonds?

Irish I had to go look at the work you did, very nice for the price I just pumped into DCG 1000 of the white ends up being a little over 60.00 delivered. My question to you any issues with the dye?? IE: People walking away from the table with dye on their hands after playing, or worse yet dye getting on your poker felt??

Also how long did you leave the chips in the dye??

Nope, in fact I really didn't even get much color runoff when I was rinsing them off right after they came out of the dye, the paper towels I used to dry them off were pretty clean. No color transfer to anyone's hands or the table felt. If you scratch 2 chips together REALLY hard you sometimes get a little color transfer between chips, but under normal play, nada.

The time in the dye varies a little depending on the color you're looking for, but it's typically about 15-20 minutes, maybe a little longer for the darker colors like black. Here's my other thread from CT that goes into some detail about the process.

These are the 2 main instructional posts I used to dye my set:

And it looks like someone put together more info on dying here:

Damnit, now you've got me thinking about grabbing another set of whites before they go the way of the dodo. I have a few younger relatives who are starting to get into poker, and I may buy and dye them some sets to get the started. I think it'd be a neat project to do with your kids. :D

LOL, no worries man. :D

I use these chips to run T10K tourneys - blacks for 100, wine(purple) for 500, orange for 1000 and navy for 5000. The RIT dye comes in something like 20 different colors, or you could get creative and start mixing if you'd like.

Oh great thanks much, didn't even think of mixing. Saw the RIT site and their color chart (thanks for the link though). Now I really have a conundrum.....
