This is a table with a twist - it uses embedded RFID tech and video cameras to generate a live video stream of my home game with graphics showing hole cards, stats etc.

When we get knocked out of the tourney we go watch the rest of the game on TV in my cinema room.

Tons of build info here:

Cheers!

cost?

IgotDANUTZ,

The prototype cost about $7k to build, not including my time - that's the 4 camera setup. I could probably put together a 2 camera kit for table builders for around $1500-$2k if there was enough interest.

That's Aussie dollars, so a little bit less in US$.

Yeah -- I would have to play with a tight knit bunch, people who are willing to criticize and analyze play to get better. I would have a hard time playing with people that I don't know.

Setting a new standard in tables.
That gives me wood. A great marriage of technology and poker.

Wow, That's unbelievable!!

I'm amazed at this, very, very cool. I had actually watched the sample video before reading about the little chip on each card and couldn't comprehend how it was working. Again, very cool!

Completely amazing, but one question:

You mention that the chips are RFID encoded as well, so why aren't you using that info to show bet amounts and the total pot?

I just added that functionality today actually, I've been experimenting with it for a while. The major difficulty is that when players move chips outside their zone without actually making a bet it screws up the totals (say when a player holds some chips in their hand).

So far it's good for an approximate stack count. I'm looking at ways to improve accuracy.

But yes, the ultimate goal is to have full tracking of the pot, who the action is on, how much to call etc.

Andrew,

Love the table legs. Everything else...ehm...Just kidding. That's frickin' outstanding. How long did you say it took you to build, from serious planning to what you have posted?

the mention of a kit for table builders from the FAQ page is a great idea. I know I'd be interested.

Thanks tele_pathic;

From concept to first game played took about 3 months, then it took about 5-6 live games to tweak the software to a useable state. I probably could have done it a bit quicker if I didn't have a job

My background is software development, but I haven't done that professionally in a decade. Amongst other things I'm part owner of an IT consulting business.

I doubt anyone here would remember, but a long time ago, and before the Intarweb became a part of our lives I wrote a BBS software package called RemoteAccess.

I thought I'd go public before developing the kit to see what sort of demand there might be for the kit. As it turns out there seems to be a lot of demand, so I'm pushing ahead with it. Send me an email and I'll add you to my database and let you know as it progresses.

OMFG!

I so need a table like that. My players would just SHIT! Of course, I'd have to have name tags for 60 players because who knows who'd end up at that table throughout the course of a night at my game. But that would be frickin' AWESOME!!! Record all that data to a computer then burn to a DVD and not even have to edit it! SWEET!

I don't think I can afford it right now tho. Really need to bring that price down to a manageable level. Especially for RFID chips.

Did you RFID the cards yourself? You say it adds height to the cards, can you see the tags? I'm curious how you apply these without creating some kind of mark unless it is on the front side of the cards, and how that would not affect shuffling.

Doesn't answer all of your questions, but, it shows you were the RFID tags are.

The tags are applied to the front of the cards, as you can see from the photo posted by Doctor XXX. The added height does affect the way the cards shuffle of course, but I wouldn't call it 'worse', just different. Pharaoh and riffle shuffles are actually a bit easier due to the small gap.

Did you buy chips that already have the RFID imbedded? I wonder if any gaming companies will do the same eventually with cards.

Yep, the chips in one of the photos on the website are all RFID-embedded. This Friday we'll be playing with stack totals displayed for each player for the first time which will be cool.
