I just saw your tables in the official table thread. I didn't want to gum up that thread with questions so I'll ask here.

Regarding the table with the suits cut out in the stretcher - how'd you do that. It looks great. I'm looking to do some inlay work for my next table.
Are those templates you used? If so, where'd you get them?

I found a picture of some suits online. Blew them up to the size I wanted, took a little trial and error. Printed them out, cut them out, and traced them to the board.

I then used a scroll saw to cut the suits out of the spreader. It took quite a bit of work because the board was so large I could not cut in one continuous cut. I would constantly have to take the blade out situate the board so I could complete the cut. A few times I even put the scroll saw blade in backwards to get a cut done. I took my time and it came out great. Only took a little bit of touch up sanding to get the final cuts exact.

Good luck with it, and if you want I think I still have the picture of the suits somewhere on my HD. Let me take a look.

I will probably just order the templates from a place I found. I wanted to use the router and inlay ebony or another wood. the template will give me the precision. Thanks though.... it looks great. I hadn't seen that table before. Really nice...

Much appreciated and I look forward to seeing pictures of your project with the inlays.
