Placeholder for updates on construction of a trailer for tailgating. Just started last weekend. Should be done by the end of Aug.
Some pics taken so I'll put them up later.
I may put up pics of my bag-o game, and Chinese horseshoes. So if others have tailgating supplies go ahead and post em.
Trailer looks like this one-
http://bjsperformance.com/yahoo_site_admin/assets/images/2007_6X12_V-Nose_Ramp_Blk_001.222154403_std.jpg
It's a 6' by 12' trailer.
I didn't like these ideas-
http://gizmodo.com/assets/resources/2008/05/ultimate-tailgating-grill.jpg
Since where we usually tailgate we can't sit to the side of the trailer, we sit behind the trailer.
Plans we have right now include-
3 TV's a 32", and 2 20"
Speaker system
Dish with 3 receivers
flag poles attached to the top
Also the framework inside the trailer should be able to be removed so the trailer can be used for other things.
Can't wait to see some project pictures.

nice...will you have a grill? portable picnic table that breaks down to store? sound system? beer on tap? generator? awning?....give us hints please!
JLew1415

Grill,
yes probably not attached to the hitch though.
Sound system,
yes we are working on building our own thing right now.
Generator,
We have one, but it's freaking loud, like so loud when I started it up last year in the lot everyone stopped and stared at us. So we got a bunch of extension cords and drug it off away from everyone. On the plus side it's pushes a lot of stuff, I ran 3 TV's, 2 receivers, a crock pot, and a deep fat fryer off it it.
I have a tent I'm going to put up over the area that we sit.
Beer on tap would be nice, I need to think about how to do that though...
I'm going to work on it later today once it drops down to a cool 90 degrees, heta index is at 110 of so. Damn hot.
I will get pics up today though.
Beer on tap would be nice, I need to think about how to do that though...
What about getting a propane refrigerator from a wrecking yard - no need for electricity - will keep your kegerator cold!

Pretty expensive aren't they?

That's why I mentioned a junk yard!
Check Craigslist or Ebay --- here's a quick check in local Craigslist.

This is gonna be freaking sweet. Just outta curiosity, where do you tailgate. In two years Im going to be planning an 11 week tour of a bunch of college football games. Nothing beats the smell of grills cooking beer and that crisp fall air. I look forward to seeing your progress

Friend has season tickets to Nebraska. We buy a parking pass off a guy I know, and we tailgate in the big boosters lot. Some nice rigs in there, I'll have to take some pics.
Gameday in Lincoln is a good time. Guaranteed sellout, and really nice fans.
This year we'll also be hauling to the K-State/Nebraska game, and maybe a few others.

Have you checked out american tailgators? They have some good ideas you could steal over there. There is also TINY TEARDROP TRAILERS. Post some stuff up there , the guys on that site will give you some really creative things to think about when packing your rig. Good luck, hell you may inspire me to build one of my own. Thought of throwing two bunks in there??????

Well done. If you get any recommendations on a quiet generator, I'd like to hear them. We run only a 20" LCD tv and satellite receiver at games and have been running it off the car battery. There is a group that tailgates near us and they put their freaking loud generator in front of their truck so that it blocks some of the sound from them, but we get to hear it full bore. We use one of those 10x10 canopies from Dick's Sporting Goods as a quick covering. They are like 50 bucks and portable, easy to erect and do a good job blocking the sun/rain.

I have heard that the Honda's are really quiet-
http://www.hondapowerequipment.com/Images/Models/EU3000is_250x250.jpg
Super quiet operation - 49 to 58dB(A)
3000 watts (25 A) of Honda inverter 120V AC power
They cost about a 1K to 2K though.

you can get htem way cheaper then that, i gotta look around and find a site
Is there a special parking lot for guys towing a trailer to a football game?
I'm always working on the weekends and been several years since I've been to a college or pro game. Is this standard?
I think its cool and all, but I think its a bit overboard and a recipe for the drunk tank.
Gimme a cooler of beer, an ez up tent, bag chair, corn hole game and a small charcoal grill.

I think any lot will let us drop it down to use it. We do have a reserved this year.
The thing I wanted is TV's for the lot. I like to watch the other games, and if I don't have a tix then to watch the game.
And yes I can see the overkill, but I didn't buy the trailer (brother in law), and the other stuff we have, or got cheap. Plus the trailer will be able to be used for other things.
dont get me wrong. I think its a great idea. I've just never personally seen anything like this. Again I don't think I've been to a college game in 10+ years, with the most recent being a Purdue game. I'm guessing you have to park in an RV lot or something like that if you are going to haul a party trailer behind you.
Just make sure you got some good locks for those doors so your tv's don't disappear before 1/2 time.

Some update pictures-
Picture of outside brackets to hold the dish and a couple of flags.
1 flag will be the team flag, and another a flag so people can easily find our spot.

Someday I'd like to have matching TV's.
You can see the carpet is on now.
Straps hold the TVs in place.
Also eventually I'll put a front on this to cover the 2x4's

is it the muffler that is loud?
hey...you might want to cut the flag holder bolts off....laceration hazard inside the trailer.
This is cool, never seen anything like this before. I have 4' x 8' trailer, but it is used for other things right now. Who knows maybe one day I can do this!

Is that a blackshirts tee shirt in that back?????? nice
A couple of ideas, build beer taps into the side of the trailer, walk up and pull the tap, could do a kegarator or just a keg cooler with ice and have it drain out the bottom of the trailer. Those straps hold the tvs down?
What are you gonna be running satellite????

It has a muffler on it, it's just not designed to be a quiet unit.
Thanks for the idea on the bolts, I'll be sure to do that.

A blackshirts flag, a window one.
Not sure if we want to drill through the trailer, but I'll bring it up.
Straps are for the TV's yes.
And running Dish satellite with 2 receivers. With the antenna, and the 2 receivers we could have 3 games on at once. Or at least 2 games.

What about building a soundtrap for the generator and then putting on a new muffler system to run through the roof, like a stack on an 18 wheeler. Or if you have a smoker/grill with a stack running through the roof, hook into that. If you do build a sound deading booth, be careful of heat buildup that can lead to fires.

They keep telling me I should make some and sell them. I keep telling them it's scrap lumber with extra cup holders, but whatever.

Yeah sorry, I only made one more game this year, I was sick for the NU/KU game, and it was cold as balls anyway.
I'll get some pics up from the KSU/NU game I did attend, but it was colder than balls that day, so no pics of hot chicks, or at least you wouldn't know they were hot seeing as they had so many clothes on.

No, sorry. Did you go to the game? Fun to watch.
And so I found out the the future brother in law has decided to sell the trailer, and buy a tandem axle one. It should pull better. So watch next summer and I'll have more pics of another trailer to be made. There are a few things I'd like to change...

Ok Pics from the last tailgate we had.
K-State vs Nebraska, in Manhattan KS.
Cold and windy that day.
We had about 50+ people stop by and all in all it was a good time.
KSU has some awesome tailgating, in the meat picture you can see we are directly across the stadium from the game. You could watch the big replay screen from where we were. The lot we were in is an open lot, we paid like $20 to park there, the only loss was that the cops took a case of beer on our way in, luckily the rest was hidden.
A friend of ours brought in a kerosene heater to warm the tent area, that was nice.
Me, eating some meat.
Also I look nice and massive here since I'm wearing a coat under my hoodie.
