I bought a pretty sweet one off the internet... perfectcases.com. They custom etch the glass, which is what sold me. The first one came in looked like a high school art project (and a bad one at that). They re-did it for me and it looks pretty sweet.
I'll posts pics if you are interested.
Also, I've been considering building a case for auto baseballs.

I've been trying to find a way to display my autographed over-sized poker chip from this years WSOP. I've been thinking about using plexi-glass to build a case so both sides of the chip are visible. Has anyone worked with plexi-glass in the past? Would it be more cost effective to just order a custom case from the above mentioned site?

For autographed pieces, I think the only way to go is a mirrored back, so you can see both sides at once...

Plexiglass is cake to work with. If you are good at working with wood, you can work with plexiglass. Almost all of your woodworking tools will work on Plexi. You just have to remember that when working with Plexi, don't use your tools at high speed, the friction will melt the plexi. Drill slowly, score and cut, take your time. Once you try it out, it really turns out to be quite easy.

It's 7" in diameter. They were selling them at the Lifestyle Expo at the WSOP. $5 each or 3 for $10. They even come with a little Sharpie that clips on to it! Brilliant!

here are a few shots of some bat cases I made for my son. I used bat tubes I bought on Ebay and then used some oak lying around to make the cases. Not tough to make and made a great christmas present.

The front of the glass is etched "Boys of Summer" across the top, and then the name and year they put their handstamp on the ball underneath each ball... The balls were a father's day gift each year, and the case was the gift this year.
