I am pissed off at my Stainless Steel BBQ. It is only 5 years old and the burners are fucked. What should I buy for replacement burnes or should I just get used to buying a new BBQ every few years. EVerything is getting so fucking disposable it is torquing me off.

Mine is the same. I have a burner that is going out. (flame out of control) so it's basically burnt through.
Good sign, I guess it means I use the BBQ two or three times a week, but didn't plan on replacing them.

GenAir will probably be my next.

Is that the one Otsckay Eenkay was talking about a few months back? Sams Club/Walmart carries it under a generic name? Or am I thinking of something different? I'm gonna be looking for a new grill. Told the GF and mom that's what I want so between them for my bday in September I should have a decent one lined up. I'll pick it out, though. Can't leave that shit up to a girl...

So, back to GenAir. Are they sold at Lowe's and HD?

I think they are sold / OEM'd as other brands as well, but from what I've read, they get solid reviews.
Another to consider would be a Vermont Castings, but I don't recall if they do a stainless version.
I've seen the Jen Air's at Lowes and have always liked them, so figured once I burn through this one that I have, I'd pick up a new one. Which will probably be at the end of this season where I can pick up a floor model or something in a end of season sale or something.

Have you seen this article on JennAires? (http://www.sizzlersranch.com/jenn-air-gas-grill)

They aren't even made by JennAire... Not that it probably matters much. They wouldn't put their name on it if it wasn't solid. I'll google Vermont Castings now...

Juicy.
I didn't know that.

With reference to that, one this I will make a requirement in my next grill will be USA Made.
No China shit.

Holy Christ those Vermont Castings BBQs look nice. I can't find a dealer through their website with any type of pricing information, though. I'm sure it's waaaaaay outta my price range.

Check HD. I think I saw / see them there when I'm in there. I know Lowe's doesn't carry them, but I'm pretty sure HD does.

Edit: Charmglow, and Webber are their main lines.

B0M --

You want a Vermont Castings? They are AWESOME! I had one at our last place, natural gas, that had to stay with the house (part of the deal). They wholesale for around 800 for a very nice one - list for about 1000 - 1200. If you want one - I can try to find you a dealer down there. Well worth the money. If you want something a little nicer, for just a bit more - look at Napoleon BBQs

I know a dude who has a VC, and he says the same about it. It's the best*.

*my buddy with a big green egg says the same**

**so does my buddy with the $74 webber charcoal grill.

If you've got a dealer around here I'll check 'em out. But, this Napoleon (http://www.barbecues.com/web/catalog/product_detail.aspx?pid=279357) is really close to what I'm looking for. It looks fantastic and is a good size. Free shipping, too!

I did just find this Vermont Castings Grill (http://www.azgrills.com/vecasisevcng.html) here in AZ. That definitely looks sweet. And still within what I'm looking to spend.

Tough decision and still a couple months before bday...

If you are looking for a made in america high quality grill, gas or charcoal, you can't go wrong with weber.

True. But they are expensive. And, to be perfectly honest, I don't like the looks compared to some of the others I've linked to. If I'm gonna drop ~$1000 on a grill it needs to look good.

In my opinion there's no contest as to which is the better looking. Sure, they Weber might be a better value for the money but I can only spend what I can.

Thread resurrection!

So, I'm still debating on what kind of grill I want. I really like the Vermont Castings but no one has them and from their website it appears that their grill division has ceased operations. So, I'm deciding on these two Napoleon models:

Mirage 485 $860 (http://www.barbecues.com/web/catalog/product_detail.aspx?pid=279357)
Mirage 605 $1380 (http://www.barbecues.com/web/catalog/product_detail.aspx?pid=279399)

The second is a little bigger but, more importantly, has an infrared searer burner which heats up to something like 1800º. It also has a rotisserie kit which I'll probably never use but I like the sound of the sear burner.

So, to all you BBQers out there... Is the infrared searer worth the additional cost? Please discuss and educate me :)

They still make Vermont castings, send me a pm with your zip code and I'll see if I can locate a dealer from our local rep. The 2009 models look great.

Weber - I LOVE my Weber gaser. It's like four/five years old and still running strong. Sure, you pay a bit more, but it's worth it, and I believe they are still built in the USA. A good, SOLID, grill.

You could always go with this and get the best of both worlds :D

I love my brinkmann charcoal grill, though admittedly I was drooling over the new model that they are carrying at HD now it's basically like the one above but all charcoal instead of dual.
