So here are a few pictures of my currently in progress man cave. The theme is going to be a Belgian Bar; like an English pub but with Belgium centric stuff. I've got a ton of metal beer signs, coasters, coaster holder, beer glasses, and even a beer gnome (from La Chouffe brewery). A bar, 6 person table, TV, kegerator and mini fridge are in the works. If I have room, probably a dart board too.

About the only thing done since the last picture was a new concrete pad was put in. The concrete is showing dusting however, so the surface is going to need to be refinished now. Once the new surface is done, I'm likely going to stain the concrete. I'll post some more pictures as I get further along.

Looks good. I'd like to see more pics of the whole room though, show a 360 degree shot of the space.
Where is this man cave of yours? Basement, garage, detached building, etc.?

1. So you smalled up that window, eh?
2. What's with the ceiling trim running at the window? Looks like its just decorative?
3.) I was thinking you were going to do some shelving in that corner, but you just dw'ed it in... Why the funky angle rather than just a squared corner?

The man cave is in the basement, about the only spot I could get! But I do have an office upstairs on the main floor too.
The large window in the before picture are now the french doors you see in the pictures in this post.
Yeah, the trim is just decorative. Not sure why the contractor didn't square up the corner, I think there might have been some pipes behind there but to be honest I can't remember.

Finally got around to putting down the tile. I laid down some ditra before to give the tile a better sticking surface. The concrete floor had some dusting going on and the ditra made it easier to tile. A buddy came over and gave me a hand. After a slow start, we got the hang of it. We're probably about 1/4 - 1/3 done right now.

The pic above you can't tell real well but it looks like there might be a PVC pipe running through there.

Tile finished! It's still drying in this picture. I'll seal it this week and start building the bar hopefully this weekend.

Looks awesome. What kind of seal are you going to use for the tiles?

Actually the tiles are porcelain and don't need to be sealed. I did seal the grout however. That stuff came in a small blue bottle (can't remember the brand) from Home Depot.

Didn't finish it all, but got the majority done before our party tonight. Really happy how it turned out!

excellent. You wing the bar or find some plans?

Followed the straight bar plan on barplan.com. For $20 you get a ton of plans and can take the best from each and make the bar your own. I'm not 100% done with mine yet, but I'm pretty close.

Howdy,
In the process of getting ready to build a bar counter with built in kegerator, very similar to yours, I would like to know how much room you left between the counter and the back wall? I am thinking of leaving about 30" in order to not extend it to far into the rest of the room, the counter top is going to be 28" wide, which will be close to 6' out into the room total.
Let me know and great job on the bar!
Thanks,
Scott

I'll take out the tape measure when I get home tonight and get back to you. But I basically just factored in about 3-4 inches from the end of the kegerator with the door open. It gave enough room to open the door and have some space between the back wall and the door but didn't extend the bar too far out into the room.

It's 27" from the base of the bar to the molding on the back wall. It's enough room to walk behind with relative ease, but if I had the space I probably would have done 30" or 36".

Thanks for measuring that out, I will definitely stick to the 30 inch clearance.
Thanks and it is looking really good.
