View Full Version : Fresno's Man Cave
Fresno

Hi, my first post here on the forum. My man cave began with a few motorcycles that I could not longer stuff in the garage with my car. I was looking to rent an airplane hangar because I heard they were cheaper per square foot than a mini storage.
Well I found an ad for a lot in a residential sky park. The house had burned down leaving only the hangar and a swimming pool. Perfect, I bought it.
Wasn't long before the construction began. Here is the first stage of construction.

The small garage in front is original, the rear is the addition.

Shot of the existing pool in the back.

Original plan is to build a great big barn like structure for bikes, cars and RV.

The toys are getting moved in.
I built it as a giant garage and hangar. It has a small kitchen to meeting zoning requirements which comes in handy for cook outs.
The big guy is a motor garage (man cave on wheels) sleeps 4, hauls 6 bikes.

Plenty of room to park and prep bikes. Couple of Ducs for the street and track, KTM 950, KTM 525 and BMW HP2 for adventures.

The flooring is polished concrete. I've done epoxy in the past but I would recommend polished concrete. It lasts forever. It does show cracks and some stains, but even those give it character.

Alright. This is rigoddamndiculous. I'm counting well into the low 7 figures for the hangar and toys. Is this for real? There better not be a Coleman Powersports ad at the end of this, otherwise I have found something I would give a reach-around for.

You guys sure are a bunch of jealous fuckers, aren't you? Don't hate on the guy because he has a nice space / garage / home / etc..
It's not "more money than god". He obviously works smart, does well for himself, and is doing what any one of you or I would do, enjoying the fruits of his labor.
I say hats off to him. Good job! Well done. I hope to be passing through Fresno sometime to be able to knock a beer back with him sometime.
Not likely as I'm packing a moving van to head from Sacramento to Michigan, but anything is possible.

C'mon, how can anybody who dedicates a smoking lounge to the Big Lebowski be all bad?
Hope I'm not giving the wrong impression. True, the man cave even impresses me but truth be told it was a low budget deal. I still can't believe it came out as good as it did doing the work myself and with buddies.
The toys are well....toys, but I use them for work as well. I'm not much of a golfer so I spend free time playing cop as a reserve deputy for the sheriff's dept where I used to be the Air Squadron commander. I enjoy search and rescue work so I make sure all of my vehicles (mostly) are 4WD. Dirt bikes, atv and transporter get used in that capacity as well.
By way of background I've been in law enforcement, investigations and private security contracting overseas. I currently own a range which I've mentioned in another post (http://www.pistolrange.com).
My day job has me practicing law which I've been doing for the last 25 years.
The man cave (we call it "the barn") is an active clubhouse. Our group is about 12 in number and we use the barn as a staging area for adventures, motorcycle rides, bbq or just a place to hide out until she calms down.
The place is a constant community project with everyone pitching in to keep it up and improve it. The invitation to drop in is sincere. I'm active on some motorcycle forums and will regularly meet online friends in person as they pass through on trips. We keep about 20 cots on hand they actually see regular use!
I only mention this because to look at the barn and see it as a warehouse for toys misses it's true meaning. It is our gathering point for good times, good food, adventures and friendship.
Lastly, I don't know this guy Pete, but fuck him anyway.:p

That's affirmative.
Although my understanding for being here in time to make Syk's b-day party in Chicago is looking decent. Now if he actually goes, that's a different story altogether.
Pete was a little arrogant though, but yes, I'm glad you hear the point I'm trying to make, and hope others do too.
I think due to some of the comments he was receiving, Pete was tweaking some folks more than being arrogant. It seemed like the more shit that was said, the more "arrogant" he got. The dude was a master craftsman though, I miss seeing his step-by-step on his projects.

Pardon my french, but fuck me, this thread is a BIG WIN. Having a big open space that serves as garage, hangar, cigar lounge, pool hall, hangout, bbq area, and bar pretty much sums up what myself and everyone I know would love to accomplish with a mancave (well maybe not the hangar). My hat is off to you sir.

Have they tore down that casino between Fresno and Visalia yet.
