Here are a few before pics. Sorry for the delay, we had to wipe our computer and load everything back on. Our pic files are arranged by date only, so I have been going through dated folders looking for old pics.

Here is a nice shot of the bar and fireplace, take note of the designer puke green and white carpet.

Next is another shot of the bar area. That is old barnboard all over the place. Additionally, the top is wood covered in wallpaper.

Here is a shot of the door leading into the laundry room/furnace room. The house is a basic rectangle in shape. Half is the rec-room and "doll room", half laundry room,

This room is connected to the main rec-room area. It had white walls and crap brown carpet. I think the previous owner used this room for dollmaking?!? The fusebox is in this room.

Here is another shot of the doll room. The curtains were a nice touch.

Thats all for tonight folks. I'll try to find some more before pics, if not, I will start into the construction pics.

Back with more pics. I intended to have something up last night but I had to watch my beloved Hawks get slapped around by Chris Pronger and the Flyers.

I could not find anymore before pics so I thought I would get into the demo pics. I wasn't sure if I should start a new thread.

My wife wanted me to start slow and do a little at a time. I pretty much ripped it all out at once!

This is the beginning of the doll room demo.

Here is another shot of the doll room. That piece of paper right of the door was an exercise routine posted inside the wall. SWEET!

http://i888.photobucket.com/albums/ac81/keeler79/demo/demo1.jpg

Here is a shot of the fusebox. I planned on replacing with a breaker box but my electrician convinced me not to. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. It had room for the additional circuits I would need.

http://i888.photobucket.com/albums/ac81/keeler79/demo/demo3.jpg

This is a shot from the laundry room. This wall is coming out.

http://i888.photobucket.com/albums/ac81/keeler79/demo/demo4.jpg

Same shot, no drywall. Notice the hidden junction box sitting on scrap wood. Junction boxes inside walls is a big no no! This was mild compared to the live wire I found inside one of the doll room walls. Live wire, no box, no tape, no fire!

http://i888.photobucket.com/albums/ac81/keeler79/demo/demo6.jpg

Now we're rolling, at this point, I had most of the drywall down and I was ready to start removing walls.

One gone,

http://i888.photobucket.com/albums/ac81/keeler79/demo/demo8.jpg

Both gone. I decided to make the wall along the laundry room hug that pole, Thus increasing the width of the cave by about a foot, the wall that separated the cave from the dollroom was also moved back a couple feet, The doll room would become two rooms. A bathroom and a seperate little room for the fusebox/storage.

Thats it for demo pics. I will start with the construction pics. They jump around a bit, I got hitched during the build so I had a wedding and a honeymoon taking time away from the cave construction.

Nice work so far. I like that you took out some walls to open the area up a little more and give you a little more functional space.

Its definitely a nice area to start with. I have a nice open basement that would make a perfect man cave. Unfortunately there is a resident living down there, probably for another 2-4 years (my adult daughter/20).

Good work so far. I grew up with a lighter version of the barnboard in my basement.
