View Full Version : Seat Assignment Chips Redux

Since Gene is willing to have a completely new look for these, I present my first draft of a generic-backed seat assignment chip.

* single chip designed at 470x470
The backs are a neutral poker theme while the faces retain the black outer ring, a white ring for separation, a coloured background, and the seat number in black. There are no effects (drop shadows, emboss, etc.). The colours chosen are brighter than the pastels of the previous run; hopefully, they have some appeal.
Discuss.

I like everything about them except the part about you failing to mention this before I purchased the other set.
The great part is that with some tweaking, you can make this for 6-table tournaments. Just change the background color... Somewhere along the line, more is too much...you wouldn't want to do a 10-table tournament with these seating chips. But its a great option for 1-2 table tournaments.
BTW, your spade is upside down... ;)

Sorry, Wedge; it was buried in the other thread about doing a new order when that one was done.

So what's the deal with these? Are they, like the others, going to be a one-time run?

I do like the same backing. Nice job Trann. Any chance of attempting to make the suits look more like the numbers?

when using these types of chips, does #1 = dealer?

Correct. Just like if you where using cards the Ace would be the dealer.

or the number one seat, if you have a dedicated dealer.

Do you mean to give them a ragged edge? If so, that might work; the only caveat there is that due to the small size, it may not show up as well. I'll have to give it a shot and show everyone what it looks like...

I like them and am in for this... got distracted on the last ones.
Trann, Pm me so I get in with this when the time comes.

Ya more like ingrained in wood type of look. can you host up the originals. I'd like to play around with them.

Gene was willing to help us with this when I expressed a modified design.
They'll be up for order at ABC as soon as the final design is vetted and ready, I suspect.
Hemps, here's the blanks:

The type is Rapscallion (TFF) and is free

I'm tinkering with the ragged edges on the suits...

And here's a first go at the ragged edging...
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/PokerTrann/PMC/seat-back-ragged.png
...and scaled down to about 35% to get closer to life-size...

Unsure if the edges are pronounced enough but at the same time, go too far and they look uglier.
And I'm thinking that hole in the spade shouldn't stay...
Personally, I think I like the cleaner suits better. I could steal the flourish at the bottom of the club/spades, but that's where I'd stop.

Ya against the white background it just doesn't look right. white is to clean for a distressed look.

I think I like this take on it...
EDIT: dropped the french curl and used more nib-like strokes on both serifs.

I am happy to announce that we will be adding these chips as a stock item in the very near future...possibly as soon as tomorrow (depending on whether I can get the photos taken and page added to the site!).
Thanks,
Gene

Rolling edge will be black, then?
Great addition, Gene. The design is Trann-tastic.

There was no discussion of an edge design; basic black should look pretty enough; I'm thinking KISS here for greater appeal.

Throwing out a big THANKS to Trann, TotalDonkey and Hemps for getting together and buying a set of these for my home game. Awesome design, great chips, and 100 times cooler than using cards to draw seats. Trann was even smart enough to get the chips in the same colours of my two tables. Awesome work boys!:thumb:
