View Full Version : Musts for a Man Cave.

What are must have items, or items that would be nice to have for a man cave. This will be in my basement. I don't want a bar or poker table. I have a foosball table, plan on getting a billiard table, darts and can't decide between the plasma that you hang up on the wall or a projector + projection screen. Also some other items i'm thinking of getting are a cooler/mini fridge and a couch. I'm kinda brain dead right now and can't think of anything else.

Wait..you're asking for "musts for a man cave"...but don't want a bar or poker table...
This should get some interesting responses..
All I can think of...stripper pole, shuffleboard table, ping pong table, pinball machine, mame cabinet.

I don't want a bar
Ummmm, OK?
How 'bout a kegerator?
(I'd go for the flat panel TV over the projector, IMHO.)

Plasma if you want it to be part of the entertainment of the entire place. Projector if you want to build a theater.
and no bar!?!?!?! WTF?

I don't want a bar because i'm only 17 and i don't drink. And what is a humidor?

it's for keeping cigars...so...nevermind =) How about some arcade cabinets? ping pong?
Blake

Don't call it a poker table, but there should be a gaming table. Be it board games, or playing spades, hearts and so forth.
And not drinking has nothing to do with having a bar or not. They are handy to have and just look cool... besides sure you're only 17 NOW but 18 or even 21 are coming up quick. You gotta plan for future uses too ya know ;)

I will not be contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
(but a stripper pole is very necessary!)

Ping pong won't fit. Arcade cabinets? How much do those cost? And what is a shuffleboard and a mame cabinet. Also what is a driving range and net.
I wish i could have a stripper pole but i still live with my parents.
Guess i should add something. Try to mention things that don't cost alot because a plasma, couches, dartboard w/ cabinet, a cooler, and a billiard table is going to cost a looottt.
Another edit. Arcade cabinets are out of reach and so is a mame cabinet ( It's like 1000$), depends on how much shuffleboards cost and what they are because i can't seem to understand wiki. And i still don't know what a driving range and net is.

MAME cabs. you can build for a couple hundred.
Same with a Juke box. Software is avail. on the net.
If you golf, you drive into a net, hence the driving range net.

this thread is cracking me up lol
Considering you still live with your parents in the basement.
You obviously need some custom fabbed shelving to show off your Star Wars toys (collectibles....the basement nerds get offended easily)

Here's the most essential and basic aspect of a proper MAN cave that you haven't considered:
It can't be in your parents basement!!
Go out and enjoy your youth. When you hit 30, are bogged down in a marriage, and own a house you can start considering a man cave. A man cave is used for temporary reprieve from the screaming kids and wife to maintain one's sanity.

At your age it's about right to feel that way, and you won't believe me but one day you are going to realize that 99% of what your parents said was a) right and b) in your best interest.
So in the meantime, you better worry more about getting as much tail as possible instead of what a humidor is.

Yeah alot of people seem to tell me that lol. But my parents are not the regular. They are way overprotective and way strict. How bout i can go out once a week, and past 8 ( BECAUSE ITS FUCKING NIGHT ) i can't go. So i guess that goes in the 1%. But honestly i'm going around that this year... And one last thing, what do you mean by "getting as much "TAIL"." ?

I'll be getting a scholarship for college. If i move out, i'll be paying for dorms and stuff. But honestly i'm weighing whether moving out is worth paying around 50-60 grand despite some of my parents ridiculous rules; although lately I've realized that as soon as college starts those rules don't apply anymore, or at least that's what my mom wants me to believe.

Kid, if you have to ask what getting tail is, you don't need to worry about it.

tail is what you stick in your humidor, which resides in your mame cabinet.

The more of this thread I read...the more I'm thinking....home schooled? Do your parents deliver papers and bake breads and jams? Cause honestly I'd be hard pressed to find a 14 yr old that doesn't know what "getting tail" means.
Actually....check his IP...it's not originating from Hawaii is it?

Given the parameters you've laid out
No bar - Check
No Poker Table - Check
Lives with Parents - Check
Unfamiliar with common words/phases - Check
Can't imagine anything you come up with will truly resemble anything that could be even mistaken for a mancave.
However, in the interest of trying to help you put together a [_______]-Cave (to be filled in later), this may be a good anchor for your room.

However, this is what made me confused about this whole thread:

Sure, fine - in high school, not a lot of jack. No problem. But then, two posts down:
