Hey guys, my name is Joel. I was browsing around on lifehacker the other day and somehow or another got on the topic of man-caves. Well the wife and I had talked about it before, and we have a 12'x15' shed out back with a loft. It's more like a barn, but it'll do. I'm in the beginning stages, so as I go along I'll post updates. This used to be my workshop(I was a bicycle mechanic) but now since I no longer have the time, it will be "The Hideout" You guys have something awesome going on here, and for those of you who are married, give your wives a great big kiss for letting you do something like this. Trust me I know a lot of guys whose wives wouldn't even let them THINK about something like this. I look forward to any and all advice received here, thanks for having me.

Idea #1
Some sort of cooling device. A/C window unit. Fan. Blocks of dry ice. But I'm thinking a shed out in the backyard, in South Texas = sweat lodge.

Just something to think about.

yeah, right now it is a sweat lodge. but I do have a couple of box fans circulating the air so at least it's bearable for now. Started cleaning out all the old bike parts from bikes I no longer have, most of it is gonna get recycled. here's a pic that's a little old, well, from last year anyway. The tools are still there, but most of the bikes are gone.

welcome. Are you going to have a game type setup? or bar/tv lounge? what are your interests? we have expertise here in building poker tables also in other parts of the forum. Do you like bbq? we have a great section here on that. If you like to mix it up in the political arena there is also a place for that. The off topic area is for all things manly if you get my drift. Again..welcome to the best hangout on the net.
