Buy it as Costco, if you end up getting a new one. Prices are good (expect to purchase some sort of combo package, though) and currently, theire return policy allows you to return the item for a 100% refund if you are not satisfied...

So, if you get the RRoD, return it and buy another one.

If they decide to start making them with a 60gig HD instead of a 20, return it and buy another one.

If you let you kids play it and they flatten out the response on one of the controllers, return it and buy another one.

hahah napier, i said the same thing about ncaa 09, i havent touched the game since the first few months i had it. First person shooters are as intense as a game can get. A ton of team work and a lot of fun
Gears of War 2! The online protion of the game is unreal

Yeah I'm not a huge shoot em up type gamer. When I play a game its strictly either Madden or NBA Live. Never really got into the whole shootin shit. I'd rather control a sports franchise but in this case.. knock someone the fuck out!!

Im telling ya i was the same way. Im as athletic as they come and swore that id never touch a shootem up game. But the team work and flat out violence in these things are amazing. Do youself a favor adn try one

I believe shit out of luck but not sure. I also believe that the xbox's are covered for a year then it costs almost a hundred to fix the overheating.

Back in July/2007 Microsoft extended the warranty for the RRoD fix to three years, Jack. That's still the case today, they're just no longer sending out prepaid boxes to send the consoles in for repair.

If you're buying a used Xbox 360 just check the manufacture date on the back of the console. As long as it's newer than three years old you're covered. The newer the better, obviously. Update the registration info with Xbox customer service once you've bought it and you're good to go. Anything else besides the RRoD has a 1 year warranty from date of manufacture.

A buddy of mine bought an RRoD 360 of Craigslist for $50, updated the registration info and sent it in for repairs. He got back a brand-new console. It's painless as long as you're inside that 3-year window. Chek was right about the cost to fix if it's outside the warranty, BTW.

Edit: Official Xbox policy is that only the original purchaser is covered, but the GF bought my original 360 off Ebay and while it was advertised as new it was already registered in someone else's name when I called in to register it myself. When it RRoD'ed, they replaced it no problem. I haven't heard of anyone being made to pay for an RRoD repair because they weren't the original purchaser.
