View Full Version : Bar and grill...plenty room, no imagination

Here’s my situation. I have a large area on the end of my pool that I want to build a cook room/bar/‘hang out’.
I brew beer, so a full bar with lots of refrigeration is a must.
I also cook a lot, so I will have a gas stove, gas grill, large sink, ect.
I have plenty of room, but NO imagination! Where to put the bar, where to put the cooking stuff, ect, Like I said, plenty of room to build a nice room, just don’t want to throw it all in there and the regret not planning better.

I'm thinking scored and stained concrete, and an open vaulted ceiling with exposed beams. Lots of wood inside. Maybe copper on the bar, Maybe some 'weathered' old corregated tin thrown in somewhere.
This is harder than I thought. For years, I wanted a cookroom/bar or brewpub, or what ever.
Now that its time to actually start, I 'm drawing blanks.

Oh, then there's the question of doors and windows. The house is to the right of the pool.
I'm thinking of maybe a double glass door and some windows on the end of the building, and more facing the pool.
SO many options.

From the patio on the house. the brewpub will be at the end of the fence at the end of the pool.http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/zz152/laynegautreau/MVC-001F.jpg

More changes.
After really looking at it. The porch between the pool and the brewpub, faces due west, and other than for early morning, will provie NO shade, thus wasted space.
I think I may extend the building all the way to the concrete surrounding the pool.
That would make the room 42x32. Now I can move my pool table in there too.
Whatcha think guys?

Good choice in the few extra bucks spent.
You framing the roof or having pre-built trusses brought it?

My brother in law is a contractor, he did most of the work.
I am thrilled. I honestly would not have imagined this end result, way back when I first posted on here in the summer.

That is all sorts of out-fuckin-standing! Not to be rude, but obviously you're not exactly hurtin' for cash. What do you do for a living?
Just to note though, when looking at the pics in that album, start at the end and play them in reverse. Makes more sense than seeing it go from finished product to bare slab.:p

With a name like Gautreau and a picture of a cast iron pot full of jambalaya, I know you are in Louisiana. Is that all cypress that you used. It is beautiful man. I am from Houma, but live in Colorado now. I just got back from Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Who Dat?

I second all the "holy shits" and "wow"s and am truly drooling over your place....HOWEVER....and Im not trying to be rude (it MAY be my pure and utter jealousy speaking) but how much did that whole "mancave" cost you?
The reason I ask is most of us on here make our mancaves with our measely little basements, corners of our garages, and scrape together any extra pocket money that we can sneak by the wifeys and then try to make a cool mancave with what little means and money we have.
So when I see a commercial grade "community center" with $10,000 appliances...its "nice" and all....I dunno. I just don't really think of that place as a "mancave". No offense, but you obviously are in a higher tax bracket than a lot of us here. Still...fuckin sweet place.
Sorry...
